Mikuni Racing Billet, installation notes
---------------------------------------------

TOP BRIDGE SET (top triple clamp and clipons):

If you are transporting your bike (ie Daytona) and are using tie downs on the clip ons, use care that you do not crank them down too tight as you will bend the bars slightly downward. Some other clipons will react in a similar manner, I have one report of this occuring - great product just use care, and a reasonable amount of tension. Strap down the bike with greater tension elsewhere (rear footpeg mounts).
--------------------------------------------

BACKSETS (rear sets):You will find a new remote reservoir included (green tube with a machined plug). It looks very trick in all but you will find their is a slight bug.

The reservoir must be vented as the OEM plastic one is (cap has a vent).

"By the way... the brake reservoir tube that you supplied is flawed... and
will not work without being vented. It will pump up, and then over time
gain air from the other side of the master cylinder because it's creating a
suction. After rebuilding, and then replacing, my master cylinder... I
finally figured this out."

From the first customer to install the Mikuni Parts in the US. The clipon precaution is from the same gentleman.
---------------------------------------------

Mikuni Racing Billet are the finest respective parts for the Hayabusa on the market, and following the above precautions will save you money and headaches.

Great product enjoy. The reservoir venting is being looked into, in the mean time use the OEM reservoir...............

If a color change is required the MR orignal clearcoat has to be stripped (chemical dip or walnut shell blasted) before powdercoating or anodizing.

BACKSTEP is the "common" japanese term for a rearset, not just unique to Mikuni Racing.

thanks for posting the price on the triple clamps and for sending the email. I think they are trick and will get a set in a little while. I still have to pipe and map my new bike first before this mod but they really look trick and they will do the trick for lowering the front abit for more feedback and a more aggressive riding stance. thx again...hayabusa nice weekend...weather is at 83 now and I'm off the next few days so I will be riding more and putting my motorcross fun bike back together....I had to redo the impeller seal and bearing since I had milky oil showing up.....not good. have fun riding.

KawAbuser "THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HUMMMM"

You must have the patience of a saint! To have a bike like yours with all the goodies and not be able to ride it. The only thing I can say is "COME ON DOWN" I did the move from Port Jefferson L.I. in 83 and have been enjoying the weather since.

Bob, JeffW has ridden with the Mikuni clip ons a couple of times. I hope he will answer your questions soon!! If they are as comfortable as they look then I am going to leave walking in snow gear towards the south. I haven't rode my bike in a very long time!!

Bob, they were designed to fit the OEM Kayaba forks.
My local current road conditions are 8" snow with freezing rain, and an airport that is pretty much closed (few connecting flights).

I will not know how they compare until Daytona and the Florida sunshine.

Cycle Stuff,

No problem, we have plenty of room here in South Florida for all the Hayabusa.org people. I visited Jeff's site and it's pretty impressive. I will do as you suggest and wait for Jeff's input. I almost ordered the Helibars but glad I didn't. Thanks again for your help and input.

Ride Safe, Bob

P.S. I was goin to suggest to KawAbuser to see if there is a multi-level parking garage were he lives, and try to at least break in the bike before coming to Daytona, :)

KawAbuser

Are the clip-ons more comfortable than the Helibars? I know they were made to go with your Ohlins fork but I am more interested in comfort here. Please advise.

JeffW,
I hope I don't offend, I don't have kids, but I know and work with plenty of people who have went through what you're dealing with now. And I always wondered what I would do if it happens to me. The only thing I could come up with to say to these guys was:

The best you can do for your kids is to show them the right way and the wrong way to live their lives. Then when they get old enough to know better you give them a good shove out into life and they'll steer themselves. You've done all you could do.

I hope that helps a little, I also hope everything works out for the best. :)

You're never done with your children and their probs. They may know exactly what they're doing but you still worry sometimes. I never tell them they CAN'T do something but I tell them what I think the probable consequences will be. :)

Sorry guys have not had time to read/answer, I've had a family problem to deal with, my 20 yr old daughter's leaving home for a guy (27 divorced father of 2) she met in a bar 2.5 weeks ago :(

I have not noticed any real difference in the way my bike rides since the install of the Mikuni stuff. Sure just a bit more vibration at around 5000 rpm, but overall the ride is just fine. The height is just about the same as stock (if you don't use the spacer it would be about 4 mm lower).

I'll put some serious miles on it in the morning (55 degree heat wave). If I notice any major differences I can post in the PM.
