Was taking a U turn and an idiot braked in front of me unexpectedly, and I had to brake too....when the bike was leaning in....

Had my right foot planted, bike at 0....and slowly kept tipping over and all my years of gym training was pointless....only helped slowly put the bike to the ground. Geez this thing is heavy af!

My footpeg rod that sticks out broke....making me wonder what's the point of that little rod that sticks out of the pegs?

Welcome to motorcycling...it happens to the best of us, but, look out for bad drivers, as they aren't looking out for you.
The peg 'feeler' is to let you know that your about to put hard parts on pavement and you're running out of lean angle, but, it's a bit conservative, I always take them off.
Aftermarket rearsets can position the pegs over an inch and a half higher, so the stock feeler scraping is common, and no big deal either.
They're also no different than the ends of stock levers, they are designed to break of in a crash, in the hopes that the rest of the peg or lever remains intact, allowing you to ride away.
