it means they grind away the gear "dog" and slot so they engage better. They usually only do this on the side that engages when you upshift. Alot of guys do this for racing or if they have alot of horsepower so the bike doesn't pop out of gear.Wag @ Dec. 08 2007 said:1237050[/ATTACH] PM]
What does that mean, "undercut transmission?"

Well the above post pretty much summed it up.Uh, yeah, I'm serious. This is the first time I've ever heard the term.
Seriously.
You guys and your high tech!

HehNo, seriously, that's a new one on me. I don't mind digging into the mechanics of it all but I'm no pro. Just one of those things I wanted to know!

Btw, what IS a TRE? LMAO
.
Oh okay. I remember seeing "racecut" on the auction I won mine on and when I received it I noticed both sides were cut.Race cut is not up and down. It is a much more agressive up cut. In some models, it entails removing some dogs completely. Race cut is usually only done on bikes using air shifters.
We only do up and down for road race applications where they downshift a lot.
It is all right here.;

Thanks Dustin! Good infoRacecut can only be done on transmissions that have an even number of engagement dogs. What gets done is we remove every other engagement dog, so that it is a smoother shift when using an air shifter. It is to only be done on racing bikes using an air shifter.
