Unrestricted Gen 1 ECU

1999 and 2000 ecu's are the same.
2001 ecu's do not work on any other year
2002 through 2007 ecu's are the same/interchange.
1999 and 2000 are the only 2 years without restrictions.
1999, 2000, and 2001 cannot be flashed.
2001 needs a TRE to bypass the top speed and under 6k timing limits.
2002-2007 ecu's can be flashed, and the restrictions removed.
2002-2007 can be retrofitted to 1999, 2000, and 2001 models, with a few other parts.

welcome to the org

I can tell you the salvage yard where you might be able to find mine. Unrestricted 2000, at least by the speedometer ( which went to 220). Hmm, but I did put an ATRE on it. Maybe they have time to modify the ECU before they sold it.

Couple hundred bucks maybe.
The 02-07 is more sought after, as it can be flashed, but isn't a direct plug-in on 99-01
So really the only market is someone with a 99/00 and a fried ecu looking to remain stock.

You used to be able to drill a hole in the 99-00 ecu. Solder in some leads and they were re flashable
Sadly the info was lost when the ECU hack web site went under

Several early 2000's Hondas are that way too, but I can no longer find info on them.
I'de like to be able to flash my Goldwing, and Guhl Motorsports is the only place that did, and got in trouble with the epa for doing 2001-2017...but not 2018-2024, makes no sense, and that info seems to be gone forever, as Guhl isn't talking.
