I have a friend with a none Suzuki product and I will not go into what it is exactly but it is a 1200 cc sport bike. The problem is one I have never seen and maybe because I mostly only work on Suzuki products.
So here is the symptoms: When the battery is connected the head lights and cooling fan are on. The gauges go through the system check motion. All this while the key is out of the ignition!
The owner said the last thing that was replaced was the starter relay after the battery and before that the power commander was disconnected. Now when I started looking over the wiring I saw a lot of electrical tape where splicing was done. I it is like it is straight wired and bypassing everything including the kill switch. I was told that the only way to cut it off was to disconnect the battery.
I have seen this bike many times in the past 2-3years and the owner bought it used from someone who probably had a bunch of mods and probably has seen some track time. I know that the bike did not function like that before but the owner has a habit of not tending to it during the winter and either having to replace the battery or put it on the charger every summer.
So far I checked the starter relay to be good and the polarity from the battery to the main fuse is correct. I disconnected the starter and ignition switch harness with same results.
I plan on going back to the friends place and troubleshoot some more once I get a wiring diagram for the bike and get in it a little deeper.
Any suggestions for a 03 ZX12 that has been possessed?
