We left Friday morning shortly after sunrise from Lakeland Florida to head north to west Alabama about a third way up the state to hang out with our mom for her birthday. (today, June 11) Don't tell her I told you, but she is 69 years old today.

Here is a photo of us getting ready to leave.

Our first stop was in Floral City Fl, about 60 miles from home. Kent bought something at the hardware store.

We made a stop for gas in Williston then continued north to a little park next to the Suwanee river. We stopped here just to rest a little while.

After a few more hours of riding in the hot Florida sun, we were ready for a break, so we met up with Jason aka fsusux, he led us over to Wakulla springs where we took a dip to stay cool.

The sign reads "Alligators are common in this area. They can be dangerous and should not be approached, frightented or fed. Please give them the respect they deserve.

Before leaving the park, I attached my wet towel, swim trunks and sandals to the back of the bike to dry. I wanted to use them again that night at the hotel and the thought of putting on a wet suit doesn't appeal to me.

Heading west we crossed the Appilachicola river and into the Central time zone. We stopped for dinner in the first town we came to.

We reached Marianna Florida and began looking for a place to spend the night. We stopped at one hotel but they didn't seem to have a pool, so we continued north and west.

It was several hours later when we finally came to a town that had a hotel. We stayed in Enterprise Al. This photo was taken the next morning, the light wasn't too good at night when we arrived. We had ridden over 400 miles that day.

The first stop the second day was in Elba Alabama. The weather was great, not near as hot as the day before.

We did not have a route planned, just a destination. We would get to a crossroads, look at the map and take whatever route looked good at the time. That is what we did at this stop, plus Kent had to apply some more sun screen.

From Elba we rode north west to the town of Brantly, we stopped there for a good while and checked out this little town with a lot of vacant old buildings. This building behind the "fastest color busa" used to be the bank.

I don't recall exactly where this photo was taken, but it was at the crossroads of a few highways and looked like a nice photo opp.

My camera began malfunctioning due to the operator, so the next photo is at Mom's place in York Alabama. It is a small town near the Mississippi border, near Meridian.

Total distance ridden was 643 miles.

The blue building in the background is her project. It is where she works with people who are interested in learning to improve their sewing skills to a marketable level, to learn to be creative and to market their items. She had done a "workshop" up here, saw the need and moved here to meet it.

We moved the bikes inside the studio located on the first floor of her living quarters. It's just a few doors down from the above mentioned building.

One last photo of the "fastest color busa" through a very old door.

That's all the pics for now, I'll update more as the trip goes on.

Did you go by the 'Bollweevil Monument' while you were in Enterprise? I've spent a little time there over the course of my life. Looks like a fun trip.
