Will the ape 47#springs work with 395/378 cams. I was using 65#but I'm getting cam wear. Thank you. Oh yeah it's a gen 1 with steel valves

65 should be fine for a gen one, as far the wear, you need to look further for a problem!

The 47's are for the Gen2's with the Ti valves!

I've looked and tried to see what it could be. There are no other problems in the motor. I use 10/40 a amsoil and change it religiously. I've thought about trying a diff oil with more zinc or phosphorus or something. Anybody got any recommendations. It's a big bore motor daily driven. Usually about 10-12 thousand miles a year. Thank you

Are the cams hard welds, or billets?
And who's cams are they?

All of the above!

 Right!

To the OP, when was your last complete tear down? I know those big motors are suppose to get a good refreshing once a year depending on use and the fact that you ride 10k miles a year is a lot on a big motor

The cams are hard weld from web. Complete year down is right now, it's in pieces as we speak. Everything else was perfect, even the crank bearings look pristine and its a 1507 motor. Rod bearings, perfect. Is there a diff cam that I should be using. I thought hardwelds were harder than billet that's why I chose to go that way. There were no shortcuts when this motor went together, it has everything under the sun in it. I can't figure this one out. Help me please please please. Lol. Thanks guys,I really appreciate your thoughts. I'm kinda leaning towards bad cams as it seems most are saying the 65#springs are not the cause

I would call Web and speak to them, about the cams, and send them in for repair.
Do you know what the seat pressure was with the head assembled?
Also so how many miles are on these cams, these are all things that Web is going to ask also.

Cam already sent to web. The cam has 10 thousand miles from last summer. Seat pressure was just about 63#. One lobe was worn worse than the rest. That's why I sent it to be repaired and it was web that told me all the lobes had wear so I needed to have the whole cam done. They only charged me 150 to repair it so I was pleased with that but I don't want to have to do it every winter.
