Valve train rattle when cold

My Bus has developed a fairly healthy rattle when cold that sounds like the valve train. It is noticeable immediately after lightly blipping the throttle and when pulling away at low RPM in 1st. Once the bike is warmed up the rattle disappears. Haven't pulled off the fairings to positively identify the source yet (will this weekend), but sure sounds like valve train. The bike has had the cam chain tensioner done last year.

Just want to know if anyone has experienced the same.

Cisco

Please do post. My clutch too noisy
Valve train rattles too when cold, or when giving it grunt from low down. Maybe nothing.....I'll get Bigabusa's opinion. He's seen more of them than me!!!

I've a clunk in the clutch area as well. It happens when I pull away from a stop, not all the time. Am waiting for my shop manual to arrive before I get serious about tracing it down. Any additional info would be helpful.

Thanks JC

Must admit, last time I check TB's no. 4 had backed out quite a way. Maybe its done it again. (screw was close to falling out)
Time for the trusty Loctite on that adjusting screw!!!

Couple of things could be happening, one the electic fuel pump gas being pumped to pressure is at normal, two chain tenioner slack until warmed up,three clutch noise. If it's on the Right side one or three of the above could be causing the problem. My chain tenioner problem noise happened after it was replaced. My clutch is making alot of noise now so I will tear that apart since I did not get the warranty. Will post results.

Cisco San Jose:

Fuel pump ok, clutch ok, think it's cam chain tensioner. Thanks.

NumbNuts:

Let me know what you find out about the cam chain tensioner.

Johnnycheese:

I'll check the chain.

Thanks.
