I was going to ask this question to just the ladies, but it donned on me that some of you guys out there are great Dads and might have some valuable input. So here is the dilema..

My four year old has decided that he does not want to eat veggies. His dad and I LOVE veggies. We have been fighting this war with him since we intoduces the Gerber foods and he would spit them back at us. I am getting down right exhausted at the fight. Of course I do the usual "No deserts, I am taking away so and so". My question is, What do you do to get your kids to eat their vegtables, or maybe "What am I not doing?"

Disguise it as ice cream.

you know some kids just take longer than others, you cant really force them to eat what they dont want, my daughter is prime example of that, she's 14 and eats allot of the starches and stuff but not the greens, she will though eat a salad, that may be one way to get your boy to eat veggies, have you tried that yet??? and by the way if you worry about the veggie thing hurting physical fitness, i wouldnt, my daughter plays comp softball and can through a ball probably harder than most guys in her age group...hope this helps ya some?

Tell them they are not allowed to have any. They will start to demand them.

we never had any luck with the "force" thing... they just had to decide they wanted to try them for themselves.. I think it must be an acquired taste for most... I honestly think that they eat what they need some how...

all grew up fine...

One of my boys will eat any vegetable if I put ranch dressing on them. Melted cheese seems to work well too.....especially on broccoli.

my kids wont eat veggies so i give them a vitamin everyday instead. its all i could think to do. i never ate any when i was growing up either so there you go. now i would almost rather have the veggies!

for some reason, my girlfriend's daughter just loves greens, eats peppers, cucumbers, spinach all that stuff, actually requests them over fries

yeah I had nothing to do with it, I still order fries

i just tell them that someone has to eat them and it is going to be them since i'm not going to!!! the only "vegetables" i eat are corn, potatoes, and bean burritos...i've never eaten a bite of leafy greens in 39 years and i'm not going to start now...if the Creator had wanted me to eat that stuff, he would have made me a rabbit!!!

duct tape, bailing wire and launch them into their wired open mouth wiht a sling shot!!!

I am lucky my 2 year old will eat veggies before anyhting else,, he is a green bean freak,, likes Borccoli also..and will take your arm off to get a cucumber

I'm with you on this one. My daughter is 9 and she's just now starting to eat some of them. She likes mashed potatos and corn on the cob. That's it. Oh...she'll eat veggie chips (they're better than regular ole potato chips).

I'll give you the advice that her pediatrician gave me when she was an infant and would only eat the orange gerber veggies.... "Don't force her or she'll never want to try them on her own. Wait until she is old enough to understand why they are good for her and let her try them on her terms, not yours."

We've tried a few things by letting her dip them in applesauce. Coating new foods with something she likes made all the difference. She will now eat pork, turkey, chicken and even hamburg. None of which she would eat before.

Hope you have better luck than I did....but like we have all said. Don't force the issue. It will happen. In the meantime try giving other foods that have the same nutrients.

My dad used to juice them in the Olympic Juicer. Almost every day I juice veggies in the AM, with some fruit, ginger, etc...

mashed coliflour works like a champ for my little guy. add cream, butter and cheese.

My wife and I get this all the time.  We have come up with a couple of good ones.  For starters.  Taco's, and thing that they put together themselves (interactive) will usually help.  Usually just lettuce a tomatoes,  and of course cheese. But chop stuff up fine and mix it with the meat when you cook it.

But if they like either pizza or any kind of pasta and sauce, and you have a blender....

You can puree anything and mix it with the sauce and they won't know the difference.  you can even get them to make the pizza's and put the sauce cheese and meat on.  The only thing is if you put alot of greens in it will tend to darken the sauce.  So just mix another jar in and freeze what ya don't use.  We put in fresh spinach, carrots, broccoli what ever.

Chop anything up fine enough that they can't tell what it is and that will help too.

Also, if they don't want to eat supper.  Then they don't get anything to eat later except for their supper.

But like some of the others.  My dad was........  Eat it.  Or don't eat at all....
you little........

my daughter would rather get mixed veg. over french fries when we go out to dinner. I don't know what my wife and I did to cause this, but I don't complain. Try letting them make the veg themselves...or let them grow their own in the gardern.

You really can't make a kid want to eat vegetables. Try the ones that are more acceptable like baby carrots and cucumbers. Maybe give them apples or bananas instead. Kids don't like vegetables. That's just a fact. Maybe give them a little and tell them they have to eat half. It kinda lets them win some of the argument.
