Vintage Time

They probably wouldn't like my Firebird. Who else has an old car that may or may not be 50 state legal? LOL

That's a beauty.......

I contemplated picking up a 50's bubble fender pick up truck but honestly don't have the desire for a project of that size.....

A guy around the corner has an awesome resto-mod Fargo with a 6.2 Hemi in it.....it's pretty cool

thank you. The 50s had some beautiful cars and trucks.
I agree...there was just something about the older cars and trucks that is missing today.

My brother has had a few vintage vehicles..

He still has a '66 Impala rag top which he has had for over 40 yrs....

He once had a Chrysler Saratoga that was way ahead of it's time, it was a beautiful car.

He has a bunch of vintage bikes still.....he has a '64 Honda 90 that matched the '64 F100 that he lost in his divorce....it was cool when he'd take them both to either a car or bike show and people would appreciate the match up....

Is that a later model engine you've dropped in there mate? And what's going on up on the inlet manifold, a temporary cover?
I have one of those chinese engine lifting cranes, never got to use it on an engine but it was a dandy at pulling out 80 year old fence-posts on the property :D
I also used it to pull a buried steel rail out of the ground, very handy to have around.

It’s a 71 400. It’s got a Holly 850 and puts out about 560 hp. The lifting plate made me very nervous but figured my engine shop knew what they were doing. Lol.

A lifting plate
I would have been nervous too. I was looking at that big single belt and thought, they wouldn't have done that back in the day. Would they have even done that in 71? Must be aftermarket, must be.

I watch lots of car shows and they all use the lifting plate....on the real modern ones there are lifting tabs..

I was surprised to see a lifting tab on my snowblower engine....

You know that you can call us by our real names here ~ this is the internet & not much is kept secret very long •
Thanks Rojo. A little proof that I wasn't always an ahole.

Love that. I had 3 different '69 Firebird 400's, the last one a convertible. Like an idiot, I don't have any of them anymore.
Thanks I've had 2. A 73 which I really wish that I had kept and now my 67. I would love to have a 69 Trans Am.

Yes a ‘69 T/A is the best. I also had a ‘73 Formula 400. I put Super Duty coil springs on it. Great handling car, ahead of its time in that regard. I cut my teeth mechanically on Pontiac V8s. Underrated.

One of my favorites: ‘77 Formula with a 400 / auto. And a factory Eight Track…

(I did the bodywork.)

Along the Pontiac idea.....one of my former colleagues had an '02 Trans Am WS6 supercharged 5.7 car with a 6 speed manual....

It was a beast....sometimes he'd go impromptu bar hopping with his officer friends and would call me to drive his car home for him because he didn't want to leave it out of his garage overnight.....

I'd take my wife along and she'd drive my truck and I'd drive him and his car home.......at least I got to drive his car which is something he never allowed anyone else to do....

Come to think of it, I wonder what he did when I was deployed?

I wish they figured out a way to get the old Pontiac V8 to pass emissions. In California we lost them way back ‘77. Supercharged LS1 is awesome. A guy I worked with had an 87 S10 with an LS1 and a supercharger on it. That thing was fun; would fry the tires off of a roll.

To lift the valley cover off sure, if you were that weak lol, but the whole engine? All the engines I dealt with had lifting lugs bolted to their sides, Or you'd put a couple of webbing slings under it.

My wife's Edge has two built in engine lift points.....and they are for lifting the engine.....her old Ford Focus had them too...

Probably only because they are lighter engines though....
