Oh yeah, before anyone jumps to any conclusions. I do believe that I was out of town that weekend and had not found this web site yet when they did their ride to my neck of the weeds

You're safe from being accused of skipping out on the last meeting...ask Postal and EAKbusa...they were the only two that made it! And I think it was before you even joined the board...

Yea I kinda had a lame excuse for missing the last meet...too much drinking the night before did me in. Plus I'd just bought my busa and wanted to get in some more ride time...

Looks like we can do both, the ride from N to S, and still meet up in Lynchburg. Maybe start out near Manassas and ride down 29/28 through Charlottsville to Lynchburg. The folks in thw SW and SE can meet us in Lynchburg. Let's keep this thread alive and very soon we can set a date to ride from N VA to Lynchburg. It will be great!!

Postal.

Postal - How far for you to Lynchburg?  If I can do this, I'd probably like to meet up with you in Stafford (just about two hours from me), then ride to Lynchburg...it's always a BIG if with kids and the hubby, but I really want to go!

Just trying to work out some ideas...

smile.gif
That would be cool Michelle, but a lot of riding for you. You would basically be riding to Richmond, then going an hour north to Stafford. I am 3-1/2 hours from Lynchburg with no stops (via Rt 610 west to 28 S. to 29 S. to Lynchburg). I had thought about seeing if everyone up here in N. VA and in MD wanted to meet in Manassas (that is about 40 min. NE of me) then ride to Lynchburg from there. We would love to have you though for the ride down. We'll let "Letssmoke" arrange the activities in Lynchburg since he's a local. Can't wait for warmer weather. Dang!!

Actually, I would travel up through Tappahannock and hit 95 just a little south of you...avoid Richmond all-together.  If I head through Richmond, it would be only 20 or 30 minutes less travel time, tons more traffic (and headache), plus the route to your area is a nice, scenic route before I get to 95;  it wouldn't be too bad...now, the 3.5 hour ride afterward might start making my arms tired...
smile.gif

I'm wondering if this wouldn't be an overnight thing for me...stay in Lynchburg then ride home the next day...I'm looking at 8 - 10 hours round trip no matter how I get there...that's assuming I don't try to break the sound barrier!
biggrin.gif

Warmer weather?  What's that?!

My arms are last thing to get tired. My butt is usually the first casualty. Not much padding back there, on the Busa either.

I like what Smoke said about the Saturday night cruise. I would stay over night for that. Let's hope for that warm stuff soon, whatever that feels like... I can't remember.

Ha! Think your butt hurts on a Busa? Try a Harley!

I never get tired of sitting on the Busa, but holding the throttle starts to make my hand numb...I start hoping for traffic and stop lights to let it go
smile.gif

The car show thing is defiante idea... OHH not to change the subject, but did you guys see the Busa done up in the Batman theme at the IMShow? whew, I wish I had my camera...Anyone get a pic of it by chance?

Two things might help; 1. you need a Throttlemeister (heavy, not the light one), and 2. Gel grips with the FIRM base. The grips really made a difference in the numbness I was experiencing in my hands. I can't wait to try the Throttlemeister (just put it on ya know). Before that I was using a throttle rocker. It was good on the hand but wasn't a cruise control.

Take care!

I say we do the Blue Ridge Parkway... But, I am up for anywhere. We could head over there from Lynchburg... I will bring BSrigley and a couple of non-busa riders. And, perhaps Samurai if he digs riding down to Lynchburg.

One thing you may wanna consider, especially with a larger group, is breaking into groups of 4-5 riders after we meet. The groups could then meet again for lunch and/or dinner (or something) when done. And, the groups would be broken-up according to riding skill and speed you wanna travel at. I know some of you won't wanna go over 100MPH (Not mentioning any names, but HER initial is Michelle) whereas Ben and I will find it hard staying below that... Just a thought.

Cool ... I second that idea ... Lynchburg then BRP sounds good to me!

Postal ... meeting in Manassas before heading to Lynchburg is a great idea too for some of us coming from the north.

Sounds like we're gonna do this thing!!

DJ

I will prolly stay at Ben's the night before in Charlottesville since I am so far up.  So, perhaps the MAnassas crew could hook-up for a couple of seconds in Charlottesville too (it is on the way to Lynchburg).

And, from Charlottesville, if we left early, we could hit the Northern BRP instead of taking 29 down!

SR,

if you dig and Ben has room, perhaps you should ride down to Charlottesville with me the night before as well. It is 2+ hours from our neck-of-the-woods. Then, Postal wouldn't have to drive upto Manassas... Instead he could stroll down to Charlottesville!

Of course, I am opening Ben's house without his permission and it would have to work for him.

Depending on the date. I may try to make it down. I am sure it will still be sucky for riding up here. so if my bike is back from Florida I will need to go riding.

Oh...I see how it is when VaBusa's not around! I get picked on by other VA guys!

Speed doesn't scare me...it's losing my license that does...having said that, I would be just fine to cruise around at less that ludicrous speeds to spare my wallet and driving record...

Thanks for thinking of me...and giving me sh*t Rip!!!

Great to see so much interest in getting together and riding. Lynchburg sounds like the central meeting place of choice. Getting there is up to you, whatever works best for you that is. We can set a basic plan later. We should set it for a Saturday and use the following Saturday as a rain date. I can't do Sundays because of commitments.

Keep spreading the word! And, as I said before, anyone on two (motorized) wheels would be welcome (well, if they can keep up), right guys and gals? As far as an actual ride date, looks like closer to the end of March or early April depending on the weather. Let's see when Spring looks like it is going to come for real. We have had snow in March before. Does that sound like a decent time frame (late March -early April)?

As far as riding together based on skill and speed, the way I usually do it is pick a starting time and place, we meet, take off for the destination meeting place, and the riders usually ride at their own pace. I'd be willing to hang with Michelle. I value my driving privileges and low insurance rates too.

Postal.

This sounds like it is really coming together. Cool beans. Of course coming from one of the ONLY two riders that showed up last time I will plan on going as well. It seems we are all having cabin fever badly considering how far it is from spring. Lets hope for nice, warm, early, dry spring!!

This could be a really cool ride/event/meeting (whatever it turns out to be).

Hey Tom, why not start a mailing list of people to keep in the loop starting with everyone that has responded on this thread and anyone that we know to be included. Lets not leave anyone out. Still early to plan but oh well.
