i know they are pricey for a couple of pieces of metal but i like the look. if i go with these, will i need a power commander. also thinking about adding a BMC, will i need a power commander if i do that? trying to save on the $$ cuz i want to get her scretched and lowered, and do some chrome wheels. any inputs on the shorties exhaust and pricing would be appreciated. thanks.

I love the look of the black ones and the sound I was hooked on these until I was educated by the folks here on the org. Your gonna lose horsepower. Now if you like em get em but it's going to drop you a few ponies just a heads up. You may want to ask some of our sponsors what might be a good set up for the look and sound you want without the hp loss.

Your basicly looking at doing only a slip on....PC not required, BUT youll have a better running beast with one and custom tune.

I too like the look of the shorties and I have some chrome ones on mine with no PC and no prob but looking to get a pc soon just in case. If I had the money though i'd switch to the brocks alien head full system. The semi shorty look, with a quality name on it and full system. Time and $$$ though ya know. Just my two cents

The look is OK ... I don't see how some companies are charging so much for them. Kind of a waste of money for no real performance gains. If you find some cheap then go for it.. just my 2 cents.

i like the brocks, ALOT. but the for the price tag i can get the voodoo for 1/2 the price and have some $$$ for other mods. i was leaning towards the yoshi r-55. actually had it on order but i saw a bike with the black voodoo and i was hooked. can anybody comment on the r-55. OR has anybody heard of the YOSHI/HINDLE EXHAUST PIPE. i saw them on ebay?

U can get nearly identical tips from jegs, have some 4" mid pipe bent to help in getting the tips under the pegs which so many of the slip ons like this have problems with and still have enough $ left over to buy a PC. I ran then for about a year but the noise became intolerable on long rides. Ringing ears for the next day were no fun and even with earplugs I still had ringing. Try pulling your stock pipes off and go for a 2hr ride and see if you still like the sound before committing to a large purchase - it's not going to be much different having no pipe vs shorties. It may just change your mind on what direction you take.

can anyone comment on the shorties with baffles i.e. voodoo and/or rolling toyz. do the baffles help the rider a choice of the noise level?

These are Hedman Hot Tips ($23 each) mounted to a $2.50 adapter from AutoZone. Look great but were just a little too loud for the neighbors. They sound great while riding the bike. I couldnt tell any difference in horsepower from the butt dyno.

I can....I used baffles and had just a bit of a drop in noise...but still too much to keep. Not much of a "choice" of the noise...still loud as hell.

UGGGHHHHHH

decisions decsions decisions.

How about this question as it relates to shorties. i really want to extend my frame 5"-6". i think the shorties allows for both sides of the bike to be seen. any suggestions on a 4 2 1 full or shorties. if you have pics please post. i see the pics on some of the custom sites BUT the reality of show custom vs. an everyday street machine is not the same.

those hedmen hot tips...what size did you get and more specifics on the adapters please! I dont like my neighbors...would be worth $50 just to piss them off! :moon:

Keep in mind I dont always do things the easiest way and other members may have a better/easier way to do this. Anyway, here is my method used on my 07>

Hedman Hot Tips with 2" inlet, number 17120 at $23.95 each from Jegs. Autozone adapter number 17501, 2" I.D. by 2" O.D. $2.50 each.

The 2" OD fits into the inlet end of the Hedman and the 2" ID fits over the header pipe right up to the raised portion. You can attach the adapter to the Hedman with a couple of sheet metal screws. Drill a hole first. Make a bunch of slits in the other end of the adapter so your clamp will compress on to the header. I used good quality T-bolt clamps, not cheap radiator clamps.
A little slack in the fit between the adapter and the Hedman will allow you to move it a bit to clear everything. Trial fit it before you drill and you will see what I am talking about. The adapters dont show when they are mounted.

I also drilled a small hole through the adapter into the header and used a sheet metal screw through both just for insurance. Hopefully this is enough info to completely confuse you ! :beerchug:

I have the Voodoo with the adjustable baffles. I had to wear earplugs before I got the baffles. Now I can get by without ear plugs. I did not need a PC. Still, thinking about switching to the alienhead just go get back the hp I lost when I went with the 240 kit.

I love the look and sound of the Voodoos. I have gotten a few compliments from the twisty riders on the sound of the exhaust.

does anybody have the fatty pipes installed or even heard of them (The Fatty Pipes Website). supposed to be louder than yoshi but quieter than voodoo. has removeable baffles.

because i won't need one with slip ons, if i add a PC, will break even on the horsepower or come out ahead?
