Got me some gear better suited to the NW. As in NOT perforated... Based on my experiance with their gloves I went ahead and bought Teknic. It came down to Teknic and Alpinstar and Teknic won out based on the features.

So, I got a Teknic Leather.

Some Icon Field armor. The Shin/knee guards.

and some basic winter gloves.

All from Newenough.com of course. As usually their service was flawless. I asked for it in two days and I get it in two days. Freakin love Newenough.com. Anyway, here's the gear...

--------------FOR SALE, It's TOO BIG SIZE 50-----------
Selling for $215, Been worn for a day. put the cash in my mits, and I'll ship you the jacket.

The Gloves are tourmaster. While they may be suitable for riding and cold weather, they will offer no where near the protection of a race glove with the hard armor.

Finally and most interesting I think is the Field Armor. It may not be te best for walking around with, but it's comfy and stays in place well enough while riding. Enough so that I think it would do it's job in an accident. When worn under my jeans (Straightleg cut) they are invisible allmost. They also fit inside the tops of my Teknic Boots just fine.

Overall I am very happy with them. I get the protection I have been after for my legs and I still get to wear jeans.

OH OH, This IS Important!!!! THey say One size fits all.... HA!!!

These things just barely make it around my Calf and I have fairly slender, Sexy Legs...

SO if you got them tree stumps, or even fairly beefy calves, I wouldn't bother, there is just no way you are going to make them fit.

It's the same problem with their Body Armor... It's just not really sized very well. They should at least have a Small and a Large I think...

Only real problem I have is the jacket fits a little big. Now Newenough said that this jacket fits about a size small, so wanting a 48 I ordered a size 50. However this has left me with a little extra slop and I am not used to that, not sure if I am going to keep the leather or return it for an Alpinestar that I have been liking. Both are good leathers, I jsut have to decide on weather the fit is going to work or not. Don't get me wrong though, the Teknic has a lot of good features and feels really well made. What struck me first was the lined collar, no more leather stuck to the back of your neck.

Anyhoo we'll see, but like I said, the Leather might be getting swapped out.

Part of the reason I wanted a brighter leather was living here in the NW. I have noticed (OK at least heard about) all the cloudy/foggy/rainy days up here and I want something more visible. The Silver leather should really stand out well.

Might be just the ticket for slipping a fleece in there on the cool days, or the Icon armor vest....or adding a little of natures padding from all the good beer out there.

(If you haven't gone to the Redhook brewery yet, git er done...they have a cool azz little bar in the basement.)

I know this is allmost un-natural... But uh, I don't drink beer. I will enjoy the occasional Guiness but that is more a food group than beer.

I think your right, it's just going to take some getting used to...

Nice lookin' jacket, man. My bud just got a full one piece Teknic Violator leather ridin' suit from newenough.com. They done him right, too. Good folks at newenough...

Nice....but WTF is with those gloves? No protection? C'mon, Rev-ster....I've never known you to be the type to cut it short in the safety department.

Not tryin ta flame, just curious, ya ol bastid. Would seriously hate to see anything happen to ya...

Yeah, why skimp on the gloves Rev? I've seen you hammer folks about gear.

Nice Rev! I had no idea there was such a thing as Field Armor? Hrmm, that just might be what I need since I'm guilty of still just wearing the jeans out...

Love the jacket too...and NOT black; that's just so unlike you! Stepping outside of the box nowadays?

Nice set of gear Rev

I like the jacket, but I'm confused about your comment on the visibility during the fog. Between the color of the road and the white/gray fog, wouldn't the silver just make you blend in with everything? I've always been partial to red/black jackets no matter what color the bike is, but that's just me.

I fully understand your compromise on the gloves. There's nothin worse than having frozen hands in the fall/winter. If they could just come up with an armored winter glove we'd be set.

Hope you and Mrs.Rev are getting settled in, and everything is working out for ya.

Just playin with ya Rev.

I think your new jacket will be just the ticket, will just take a bit to get used to.

Good luck with it, hope you guys are getting it all nailed down out there.

Nice gear. I'd send the jacket back and order the correct size. Tekin gear fits slightly bigger than it sized. I bought a Lightning 2pc suit that I shouldn't be able to fit into yet, but I can get into it now with now problems.

You may want to check the fishing section at Fred Meyers for some glove liners. They're thin and very warm. I use them on the cold days. They fit inside my Alpinestars GP Plus gloves. Great protection and comfy.

Good gear! I even like the gloves! Living here in the NW as well, I know how important it is to have warm hands. Leather just doesn't do a good job of that?

I really like the idea of your leg protectors. If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for them and have you been on your bike with them on under you jeans? I don't wear jeans but I do have some favorite leather pants that has no knee protection.

OK The Leather is cool but it is too big and I will be returning it. If any of you 6'2" Big guys need a SWEET Size 50 that was worn for one day? Give me a shout. I want $215 for it. I'll ship when I get payed, You know you can trust me, I ain't going anywhere. The jacket really is top notch, great KNOX armor, and well built, it's just too damn big. Hit me up soon, cause after this weekend I'll be sending it back to Newenough and be getting a smaller jacket, I tried on a Bunch of Alpinestars stuff Today, so I know that is prolly what I'll get because I know what fits. This leather is sweet, just too big. Holla!
