Ironically I Decided to get my Wife's Escalade Detailed Today after Work. Driving Home Trafic was Deep. I Looked down for a BRIEF MOMENT and OH SH.. Traffic JUST STOPPED !!! I Slammed on the Brakes. NOTHING "Remember I Just Pulled out of a Car Wash"

Long Story Short. Escalade TOTALED !!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a lot of Mixed Emotions Right Now GUYS !!!!!

Would if I Hit a Fellow Motorcycle Rider ?

Would if it was a Good Friend of Mine and a Motorcycle Rider ?

Would if it was ME on my BUSA that was Hit by some Dumb ASS in an Escalade ?

You gotta try and stay focused when driving, but we're all human and make mistakes.  That's why so many people die on the road, just a bunch a mistake making humans driving around.  I know I make mistakes, but luckily I've been lucky to not make one in that crucial moment where you can't fix it.

Best thing to do is not get down on yourself and think about the what ifs.  Just try to make a change to keep from making the same mistake twice

I think my Left Knee hit something because my Leg Hurts. And my Chest Hurts from the Seat Belt. Other than that I am OK. Thanks For Asking
 
Don't beat yourself up, accidents happen. You can WHAT IF yourself to death.
 
When you Ride a Bike you are Always Judgeing Cager's Stupid Behavior and Carelessness. Now the Coin has Flipped and It's Hard to Deal With. After I Pryed my way out of the Escalade I took a Look at the Mangled Front End and Thought "What if that was a Motorcycle" ? "What if there was a Person There" ? I just find it hard to Explain........
 
Robert, it seems to happen to all of us one time or another, instead of lookin at the what if's you gotta look at the positives man.  I did the same thing a couple years back right there on Watt ave at Roseville rd zippin along at about 55 mph with what seemed to be little to no traffic, looked back to make sure it was clear for a lane change and when I looked back I was 3 ft away from slammin into a stoped toyota 4x4 p/u, I barely had time to get on the brakes before I slamed into and underneath him, his rear bumper was inside my windshield and about 1 inch away from my steering wheel, his tow hitch got cought up under my brake master cylinder otherwise I'm not quite sure what would have happened. It was quite a costly lesson, I totaled one of my shop trucks and his 25K Toyota and I was only carrying minimum liability (5K property damage) actually one hell of a costly reminder to "pay attention" but when the CHP asked if I was OK my first response was "Hey better in one of my trucks then on one of my bikes"  Hang in there man you'll get through it, just be thankful that noone was hurt.
 
Sorry to hear about the accident, man. Just remember though, it was an ACCIDENT. it could happen to any of us at any time. The good thing is that everyone WAS okay. Dont keep beating yourself up over it.
 
Don't WHAT IF, you will never get an answer. You learned a valuable lesson the hard way. Eventually we all do. At least you are OK.
 
glad to hear youre ok sorry about the wreck. but like everyone has said accidents are just that accidents. a bike wasnt involved no one was hurt and cars can be fixed. maybe Gods little reminder to be a little more forgiving to the next cager that makes you mad when youre on your bike? everything happens for a reason
 
I'm glad you are OK... Life is a learning lesson, this was just another reminder for you to pay more attention. Did u get a ticket??
 
like it's been said...people being ok is the main thing, try not to what if too much,it happens. hopefully the ins. co will pad the settlement so you can get your wife a good "I'm so sorry" gift and yourself one too( for the busa, of course) good luck
 
As long as yourself and the others in the car/cars are ok then thats all that matters insurance will cover the damage thats why they put erasers on pencils cause we are only human and we make mistakes and or have ACCIDENTS dont beat yourself up over it im sure your wife has done enough of that
 
Like everyone else has stated Shid Happens you made a mistake lesson learned.  Also forget about the What If's I know it is hard but forget about them you will not get any answers. Be glad you and the wife are OK and the guy in the other car is OK that is all that really matters any way cars can be replaced lifes can not.

Damn hope everthing works out.

I have a 99escalade and one time I was driving home in traffic and I was looking at this guy on his motorcycle and traffic stopped in front of me. I stood on the brakes and waited for the worst. I just knew I was going to hit, I had already started to think about contacting my insurance agent and the results of what this would do to my rates. Miraculously I stoped in time.
