I see the female population is in the minority here... which is no big surprise to me... but as most of you are "seasoned" riders....

what is the first thought that pops into your head when you see a female riding a motorcycle?

HONESTLY!

depends if i'm riding with her. To be honest, some women I ride with scare me because they're so over cautious. Others I have no problem with and some even out pace me.

whenever I see a woman riding I'm glad to see it. Wish more women would take it up. Some kinda get a little to lesbo though and prefer to only ride in fem groups. sheeeesh

All n all I give them the same respect.

Personally, I'm impressed (especially if they're on a Busa) because most women don't ride, although that number is ever increasing.  Of the two women I have ridden with (both on Busas) both did well and one (org.member TonyTheTiger) could ride her Busa better than some of the guys I've ridden with.

As cool as it would be to have my wife ride along with me I would be too concerned about her while riding and it would probably distract me from my riding.

What do you think when you see women driving cars, or boats, or planes? Why would riding be gender specific? It's not here in SoCal.

That's cool. Even though I'm a member of an all female group I ride more with guys. Heck.. my husband calls himself the Chic Rider Bodyguard.

My problems with girls on bikes are either they are "BUTCH" or "Who-Ores".... Unfortunately I LOOK Butch cuz I'm a big girl.. and on a BUSA... why can't we have a happy medium?

like it... Not enough riding here though.

Female pilots are in the minority too....

I just asked because of the comments I have received when I pull up some place. Some guys act like they are cool with it in front of me, but then make "comments" when they walk away or are with their buddies... and the comments have gotten back to me.

The South is A LOT different than Cali...... we are still supposed to be "southern Belles" I guess....

I went to the AMA's Women & Motorcycling conference in Athens, GA last summer. I'm just guessing but I'd say that 40% of the attendees were practicing "alternate lifestyles", 55% were over 40 (some were WAY over 40....), 85% rode cruisers, 13% rode touring bikes and less than 2% were on sportbikes. I admired every single one of those women because they were doing their thing and having a blast. The track day at Road Atlanta was way cool too...

Note to the men - this was an excellent conference, especially if you like demo rides. However, this conference is not for you if you're only going to pick up chicks.

Gunny! You smart@ss, I know you understand the point she is getting at.

Are you saying in CA there are as many women riding as men...although there may be more in CA than the rest of the US I would bet a large majority of CA riders are still men.

Hey, I think that it is great. I would ride with ya anyday. Don't let the few idiots get to ya. I wish my wife would ride.

I think it is cool, but when their hands and wrists start to resemble men's it puts me off. Also, large groups of lady riders that dress and look an awful lot like men do not tickle my fancy. Chics should be able to have a good time whichever way they want.
I personally would like it if my girlfriend rode a sled, if it wasn't for her propensity to panic and crash I would be even more open to the idea.

My husband started me out on an 80 4 stroke dirt bike.... I promptly ran it right into a chain link fence. I threw a fit, told him I would never be able to learn, he walked away from me and I was riding laps in the back yard before the end of the day....

That was a mere 4 years ago and lookie where I am now

I think women who ride are HOT! My wife has always been very happy to ride with me. She loves it, and one of these days when she feels she is ready, we will get her own bike to ride, but until then, we are both happy and content to ride 2-up! You go girl!

Sorry not trying to be a smart azz, I guess what I was trying to get at is what is the big deal with whats between your legs if you can ride? I see many more male azz hats then I see female. You are right that the ratio is greater towards men then women.

Rembered I teach MSF and get 60 new riders a weekend, 3:1 ratio BUT the woman listen and the DUDES ask when they get to learn how to do wheelies!

Sorry for any confusion.

Still alot more woman pilots then you think, especially in the Air force.

I guess my point is “Who cares what others think about you" just roll on the throttle and leave them behind.
