What octane fuel

The book says 87 I asked the dealer and he said at least 93 and even 100 race fuel? any help would be great

For regular street riding? 87 or 89 for that. Only reason for anything else owuld be for turbo.

A stock Hayabusa has a compression ratio of 11:1. It requires 87 octane.

The GSXR 600, 750 & 1000 all have a compression ratio of 12.5:1 and requires 93 octane.

No need to waste your money on higher octane fuel with a bike that doesn't need or require it with the lower compression ratio.

The higher octane burns cleaner though, less crap scoring your engine. I put the highest octane in all my bikes, always have.

But I am not a mechanic.

I get better gas mileage by far using the 87. Lower price, less consumption and plugs stay clean. Good enough for me.

The Person who told you to use race fuel has his head up his umm.... rectum.

It's a long discussed and debated topic but it boils down to this, for a stock busa 87-89 octane is all you will ever need, it burns a little hotter and a little cleaner, produces more power and is all ya need.

The higher Octane fuels are pretty much useless in a stock motor, and can in fact loose you power due to the slower burn. I was plenty skeptical of using 87 octane in a Busa motor, but I changed from 93 to 89 and I noticed an improvement in power based on my (Mod71 SOTP Dyno), and better fuel milage.

No Foolin.

I have been doing some research. I still need to do some checking but everything I have seen shows a compression rations of 9.3 : 1 or less are good with 87 octane but an engine with 11 : 1 should get 91 to 93.

I have not found anything 100% verifiable or exclusively for Motorcycles. I am still looking.

I am no expert, so take my findings with a degree of possible error. When I find something reliable and definitive I will post it up with a link. (Yes, I am an uber nerd.)

The manual says minimum 87 octane. -Minimum- is the keyword there. If you go under 87 you may cause engine damage. Any standard pump fuel at with an octane rating of at least 87 is usable.

Stock compression it will run better on 87 - tried that many times at the track with varying octanes and 87 ran best...

If you're mostly stock....go with 87, just like the manual says!
Gotta love that dealer of yours.......me thinks I would not buy a bike from a guy that speaks with forked tongue! Whew!

Hell I'd run 81 if it was still made, just to see.

I use whatever the lowest price gas is and then run cleaner every oil change and try not tu use only one brand of gas

just my $0.02

Actually I'm thinking about the ELF Pro-Moto at about 112 Octane. Has that strong kinda sweet smell, makes ya light headed... I figured the VP would be similar.

Yeah it has a sweet smell, but the dang alcohol is unbearable, burns your eyes and nose.I've used the scents as well from summit, pretty cool pulling up to the line smelling like grapes or strawberries coming from your exhaust! LOL!

87 unless my son is with me on the 600 then I run 93... 87 runs best for me and keep the bike cool on those hot summer days (if it ever stops raining around here)

I have a 03 Busa with a TRE and no other engine Mods. I have run 87 Octane for the last 4,000 miles and had the Bike Dynoed at 181 MPH and 155.9 HP at the rear wheel running 87 octane.

I ensure the Gas is a brand name, the station looks clean so maybe the gas pump filters are too and that no tanker is there off loading gas and churning up all the junk in the ground gas tanks.
