What octane fuel

Man, looks like many a motorcycle guy(s) hasn't much experience with octane rating.

Octane ratings are BACKWARDS, in relation to "relative ease of ignition". Meaning 87 lights MUCH easier then 100. However inline with this thinking 100 is less susceptable to "pre-ignition" - aka: ping....

Stick with "Top-Tier" brand gas, NEVER fill up if there is a tanker there filling up either. That ensures as said above you don't crap floating in the tanks in your tank.

Start out with 87, if you notice ping move up 1 grade. in CA it's 89. I only run 89 when I suspect I've gotten a bad load of 87 and heard any ping. However I only use 1 tank of 89 to blend the 87 out of the system.

I'm such a cheap ass when it comes to certain things... so even if the busa had a recommended fuel @ 93 I would still use the cheap 87! Good thing for me that 87 is the right stuff to use.....

87 is the Best for the Stock Busa, but what about slightly modified?

For example: My changes that are not OEM, and I also list fluids as they are not OEM, which Im not sure if this makes any difference in terms of which Octane I should use.

-Pair Valve removed/ block off plates
-Small Air-box mod
-Full race exhaust
-Sealed ram air system
-Web Cams
-Synth oil/ OEM filter
-Engine ice
-Denso plugs
-PC3 usb
-Custom Map

And lets talk about Ethanol. Here in MN they add 10% to 20% at most stations...which I believe burns hotter, so if 87 octane burns hotter than 93 + the addition of ethanol, well somone explain if this throws a monkey wrench into the equation.

Using the wrong rated gas can cost you more. For example, the Camaro must have high octane in it or it gets such crappy mileage, it ends up costing more to drive it with 87 than it does with 91. Putting the right stuff in your equipment makes a difference in maintenance costs, as well.

Remember, if you're cutting corners on various things, those little shortcuts are going to cost you more in the long run, 99% guaran-damm-teed. With a motorcycle, it could cost you your life so make sure you do things the RIGHT way when you do them.
