10,500, I'd rather shift safe than hit the limiter, which appears to about 10,800 on my Gen II. 63", 9.44 @145mph so far.

IMO, you are shifting WAY to early on your Gen-II. That's probably why your MPH is so low (depending on your weight). The tach is off so you need to raise your shifts 1,000 RPM "indicated" on the tach (11,600 RPM). Try it a couple passes and let us know how it works... :beerchug:

Shifting is set up through MSD SB6. I thought that would be more accurate.

I'll give it a go. Got a test day booked in a couple of weeks, I will raise them then. Thanks. I weigh about 230 with leathers etc.

The Gen-II makes power all the way until red line with all the Brock's stuff. You should drop a couple tenths and gain about 3-5mph from what you are currently shifting. With good weather and your mods you should be going 8's @ 150+... ;)

09 gen2. stock engine. brocks alien head, gsxr 1000 short stacks, bmc race, ecueditor. 65.5" with air shifter.
I am shifting at 11500 indicated. about 10800 0n dataloger.
Out for the 3rd weekend on it lowered and extended. 2,800' elevation here. 9.28 at 145 today. 1.52 sixty. 120.9 1/8th mph. had a 147.3 pass today. Rev limiter set at 11,500 in ecueditor. going to try draco1340's sugestion and run it higher in 1st only and see what happens.
really need to get the sixtys in the 1.4's. can't believe I ran a 9.28 here with a 1.52 sixty. can't wait to see what it runs when I get well into the 1.4 sixtys.

I weigh 187 or so in shorts.
well.... we had a decent tail wind today wich is pretty rare. I ran it up to just under 12000 on the gauge. every pass was 149mph with a max of 149.98. 123.9 in the 1/8th on that pass. wide band commander 2 was showing 11150 or so as highest rpm and gave a few funky 13000-15000 rpm readings before shifting. went in to wbc software and I had it set as 11,100 rpm max. so I just raised it to 12,000rpm max value and will have to see what it does next time. rev limitr set at 11500 in ecu editor. ran it to 12000 and never hit the rev limiter.
will have to run it to 12000 next time and see what it does on the loger and make a few passes shifting at 11300 (10800 actual) like I have ben and see what happens.
couldn't sixty to save my life today. ended the day with a 9.303 at 149.7 with only a 1.57 sixty.

10,500  Running 10.2 on my street Machine with 350 lbs. Rider, I like to eat when I'm not Drag Racing.LOL

Missed this thread, but the Gen I and II are at least 1K RPM different. I usually shift my Gen II between 11.5 and 12 indicated, just past 12 it hits the limit. On my Gen I never past 10.5K. If You have your bike on a dyno you'll want to try to keep it in peak torque between shifts.

Taking these big motors up to 11,000rpm+ regularly, how long will the totally stock engine last? On my BKing I shift at 9000 as I baby the heck out of it. I am afraid of a big high dollar repair bill if I wind the hell out of it.......

Good question. Builders, Tuners, and Owners refer to Busa Motors as bullet proof. My bike is headed toward 40K after five years of abuse. Almost every time I ride I crank the bike give it a little neutral time, ease through the neighborhood and hit 11K+ in first gear on exit of said neighborhood ( just keeping the ports clear ). I'm basically a daily rider. I'll guess that I do this 355 times a year.
