What to buy next

I recently sold my R1 so my wife could get a much needed new car, (a new gli vr6 VW, very fast for a cager), so anyway part of the deal was that I could get a new bike next march or so, now the hard part, I do not know what to get, i like so many bikes, but I have narrowed it down to these, in no order,
Hayabusa, zx10r, 05 gsxr 1000, or an 05 R1.
Hav ing already owned a R1 i am kinda leaning away from it, inorder to try different models. I do alot of freeway commuting and weekend blasts. I know this is the busa site and i love the black and silver bus but want to make sure it is for me. I am 6'4" and 240 and just looking for some honest opionions and horror stories. Thanks in advance.

Doubt if you will get many horror stories from around here. At your size, the Busa will definitely fit you. It won't handle the way the R1 did, but it can do whatever you want it to do. All depends on what you want it to do, but it would still be my first choice!

id try to take a few for a test ride!i did in 02 and found the busa best, wife will love ya for it to boot!!

I want a Busa also but at 6'1" and 250, when I get on one, my feet end up right where the mufflers meets the headers. Seems quite a kink to bend far enough to get on the pegs. I also notice that I lean a bit too far over and forward. Do Heli-Bars and or risers work well (enough) to compensate and does a windshield change become necessary as well?

Just curious - You've listed three 'minibikes' and one bike that's something on which you would fit; something on which you could be comfortable...

Leading question?

At your size, in reality you're limited to two options - Hayabusa or ZX-12r.

Pick your favorite body style and color scheme.

AHHHHHH......what do you think us Hayabusa guys are going to say?

I love the busa too, i would have bought one if they were out when i bought my r1. the busa is very comfortable, I sat on an 04 le and an 05 on sat and then on an 04 r1, the difference is amazing, for my size I think the busa is going to be the one. thanks for the replies.

I dunno man, go camp on each one in the dealership and then decide.  The 10 is interesting but at your size your going to look like a Monkey Fuggin a football...  The R1 is new, supposed to be more comfy, and is the sweetest looking Japanese bike out there.  The Honda is supposed to be the best way around the twisties, most nuetral.

But in the real world, all types of riding, do it all kind of bike?  I still think it has to be a Busa.  Comfy enough and do it all ability.

Yes Helibars will ease the weight on the wrists, and while a windscreen replacement isn't mandatory it's helpful.   I would look into the Kawasaki ZZR1200 or the Yami FJ1300 though.  Coming off a CBX and it's more standard ergo's I think the Busa might be a bit strange for you, a little too sport oriented, a little too cramped. At least initially...

I am 6'4" and 220 and the busa fits me fine. However, I would reccommend the Zero Gravity double bubble windshield. This will allow you to see the gauges better and it looks nice.

There are a lot of nice bikes out there. I also have a 05 FJR1300ABS shaft drive that I got before the busa. It is a great bike and has 126 rwh and 90 flbs of torque. It isn't a busa, but it pulls like a train as well. 10.5 to 11.02 @ 127 in the 1/4 mile. The sitting position is upright and comfortable. I love the bike but like the busa better for my riding style. I think the FJR is more on the touring side of the equation than the busa. I am going to sell my FJR if anyone is or knows someone that is interested.

6 foot 230 and the busa is perfect for me. Rode a Gixer 1000 and that was very cramped. Failed the MSF on it and paased with flying colors on the Busa. I guess it boils down to whatever you like. By your choices of bikes I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.

The Busa is a great bike, fairly smooth and plently of torque, but a little cramped in the legroom department for folks with an inseam over 30" - something that can really wear on a rider over a period of time. Nothing worse than being in the middle of a wonderful ride, only to have your knees and hips cramped up and aching...

The combination of the lack of legroom, the BNG, the el-cheapo stickers instead of paint and the strong rumor that there's not going to be a Limited Edition this year just may put me on a Kawasaki.

YMMV

You really should ask BT what he thinks .... he recently moved from a busa to a 10r. You've already owned an R1 and the gsxr1k isnt all that different from either that or the 10r from what my buddy tells me (he's riden all 3)
