What to buy next

I do alot of freeway commuting and weekend blasts.  

This is the key phrase in your post.  You'll catch some serious windsheer on a litre bike man. I catch a lot on my Busa, but it's cool when riding with the fellas and we're passed by a semi-truck all the guys on their smaller bikes are ducking under their windscreens and the Busa takes it like a chamnp. Based on your last ownership you're obviously a man who likes stylish bikes, which rules out all "Sport Touring" Style motorcycles.  I first am curious how comfy the R1 could have been at 6' 4"?  Anyway, as previously mentioned your only options (new that is) are the Busa and the 12r.  Suggestion is find a partner who will let you test drive each if possible.  If not hit the dealer and do a sit test.  That was what convinced my 250lb+ frame the R1 wasn't my next selection.  I'm biased to the Busa, but it can get a lil cramped at times for the legs, but I think you'll have that problem anyway you go.  As for new color styles the Black/Silver is def. my fav of the new schemes (even though I hate the new schemes).   I've expresses my love for the new black 12r though, I've seen it at one of the local shops and it screems beauty!  Just the Big Dawg's .02, happy shopping.

thanks for all the feedback, I still have no real idea, until i see a gix 1000 i will make my final decison, but it is looking like a busa or a gix 1000 or then a zx 10

depends on what kind of riding you do ? long rides ? twisties? let us know how you ride and then we can give u an answer .me personally i am biased to the r1 but i would give that new gsxr a shot if i had the $funds$

LOL - yeah -sounds like you've made a decision. LOL!
I was leary of buying a Busa. Its the first bike I've had in years. And to go for the gusto?? But #### it. I have ridden for years and decided that I wanted the damn bike bad enough.
Been riding since the '80's and been on big bikes before. Decided that the Busa to me, had the best riding position. Best feel for the road for what I need it for. And my wife liked the seat too. LOL!
You gotta figure it all out. Some great ideas have been posted though. Good luck.

I have both an 04 GSXR-1000 and the 04 black/purple busa. I am 6'4" as well and I enjoy the gixxer much more than the busa. And I am not totally convinced my busa will out pull my gixxer. I like the busa for long rides though. If you are into fun and corners and especially wheelies, I'd give that 05 Gixxer a hard look. I have my name on the first black one that shows up at our dealership!
