What ya doing for lunch today?

A king cake (sometimes rendered as kingcake, kings' cake, king's cake, or three kings cake) is a type of cake associated with the festival of Epiphany in the Christmas season in a number of countries, and in other places with Mardi Gras and Carnival. It is popular in Christmas season in France, Belgium and Switzerland (galette/gâteau des Rois), Portugal (Bolo Rei), Spain (Roscón de Reyes and in Catalonia called tortell), Greece and Cyprus (vasilopita) and Bulgaria (banitsa). In the United States, which celebrates Carnival ranging from Pensacola, Florida to East Texas, centered on New Orleans it is associated instead with Mardi Gras season traditions.

The cakes have a small trinket (often a small plastic baby, sometimes said to represent Baby Jesus) inside, and the person who gets the piece of cake with the trinket has various privileges and obligations.

How are y'all gettin King Cake up there in Yankee Land??

btw... HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!

(so what are you giving up for lent??... since you are INDULGING in King Cake)

Man, I haven't had Gofdfathers in about 15 years. I have a close runner up today. Little Ceasers Crazy bread.

OH MY MOG! Crazy bread!!! On of my personal faves. If I was stranded on a desert isle with no food except that, I would die happy! :)

All this food reading making me hungry! What's the deal with soups: some say to add water, some don't. How can you tell which to add water to?

There are still Godfather's out there?? WOW!!

Does anyone remember Pantera's Pizza in the St. Louis area?

My lunch will be steamed veggies and probably chicken if I can stomach it today... or maybe some sliced turkey.... yuummm... :puke:

There is a God Fathers down in Fairhope! We use to have one by the house but because of bad management they closed it down:cry:

I'm having a salad and baked chicken for lunch.

+1

Usually by now I have had King Cake. I like it when someone new eats it for the first time and happens to get the baby (no forewarning). Their expression is great.

All the Progresso soups I've been eating require no additional water, and they have been quite tasty. just pop the top (I love these easy open cans they have now) and microwave for 2 minutes then you are ready to go. Oh, be sure to place a paper plate on top of your bowl since the carrots will pop sometimes in the microwave.

if you do get on a more healthy kick be mindful that for every teaspoon of salt your body retains a pint of water.

yeah I know that :p but its like they all says condensed on them. yet some condensed soups dont need water added?

I don't know about all the soups. I personally try to stay away from canned soup because of all the salt in it.

I would retain so much H2O I would look like a water bed mattress:laugh:
