OK..I've had a buzzing noise in my triple tree area since around springtime and no matter what I do to try an localize it, I can't find what it is. It happens between 4500 and 5500rpms....which is where I always seem to do most of my cruising....in gear, out of gear....clutch in, clutch out it's there....Like I said I've learned to live with it.

Anyway, today it was really bugging the crap out of me on the way to work this morning and it got me thinking....

I was wondering with all the funky noises this monster makes what kinds of noises really bug the crap out of you that YOU can't find and have tried to learn to live with?

Come on....I want some company on this one.

Dan

I havn't experienced that same thing, but at an indicated 90 mph my bike has a very slight vibration... can't figure it out.  Balanced the wheels, tightened everything, adjusted the chain.  Nothing makes it go away.  I feel for ya!

Have you hit any big potholes? Maybe you have a slightly bent rim....

Not that I am aware of. The bike did have 3.4 miles on it when I bought it. Maybe someone hit one during the PDI or something.

Some people have complained about the buzz from ZG windscreens that do not fit tight enough. The solution is tape around the end before re-inserting.

Also, I have a buzz from my clutch lever. I think I need to tighten something.

My stock screen buzzed since the day I bought my busa. I put electrical tape around the edges and made my bike a LOT quieter

Also check your tank bolts-they're hard to get tight with the stock allen wrench...then again I am a weeny computer tech

Yeah, mine did too....I ended up sticking the soft side of velcro pieces around the edges....worked beautifully.

My buzz sounds like two pieces of plastic vibrating against one another.....wierd.

I would still suspect a screen, then move along your inners, make certain everything is snugged up properly. If there is a buzz, something could be working itself loose. The only thing that should be rattling or Buzzing on a Busa is the Valvetrain and the clutch.

I would take a soft rubber mallet, or a something soft but solid with some mass to it...(Use your Head) and gently tap or thump all the plastics around your front end. I know sounds silly but it will quickly let you know which parts of your busa are likely to be causing your noise.

I wouldn't play though, something comes loose at 160 it could be bad news, or at least scare the hell outta ya..

When I replaced my cracked upper fairing a while back I took the opportunity to try an locate the noise with all three fairings off...buzz still there....I got it down to the throttle side of the triple tree/handle bar area...still no luck.

I think I'm just in the "misery loves company" stage now...

You don't suppose it's intake noise do you? I mean if it's doing it only at a specific RPM range? Might just be some resonance from the Ram Air.

I know when I first started riding the Busa, one thing that struck me was the bizarre series of noises that comes from the Busa's intake. The Blackbird had a sweet whistle whoosh Jet engine sound, Busa intake is allways doing it's own thing...

But the one noise that bugs me the most? Is that damned clutch, let it out and man, sounds like a tin can with a couple of rocks in it being shaken under a blanket...

Nowhere near as bad as a Ducati, but annoying anyway. Otherwise, the sound of the intake needs to be sweetened up a bit.

What's the buzz all about?  Uhhh!  I don't know!

Did you try checking your fender bolts.  There are three bolts on each side that holds the front fender on.  If any are missing, then it's probably the vibration of the plastic fender hitting against the aluminum mounts.  Other than that, I don't know what your boggle is.

Since I put on my my heli's and had the throttle bottles adjusted, I have a similar buzz. Sounds like a bee brushing against my radiator under heavy loads while driving. Of course, the motorcycle gods won't reproduce this rev'ing on a stand. For the life of me, I cannot find it. I'm going to try Relvis's idea though.

I had my dealer everything's-a-pain-in-the-ass mechanic take it out for a listen to it. All those buzzes sound normal for a busa. Funny, didn't make that normal buzz before the work.

Errrrggggg!!!!

I don't think so...if it is it's not air coming through it, it's just the duct vibrating, cause I can duplicate it on the stand in neutral...but after putting on the front fairing and seeing how tight the ducts are I doubt it.

I know....the clutch is pretty noisey. I just kind of attribute it to the wet clutch thing. I don't run synthetic but I imagine that it even gets a little noisier with it.

I love the sound of the intake when your passing the 100 to 110 mark...You can hear it start gulping air as the bike starts really pullin'.

Thanks...I'll check that..

Yeah....That's why I won't let a dealer touch my bike, I don't care how long it takes and what tools I have to purchase, I'm doin' it myself.

A couple of thoughts:

- have you had the bike on a rear stand and tried reving it to 4500 rpm to see if you can recreate the sound? If you can, things will be a heck of alot easier to find.

- If you can't recreate it on a rear stand, it's probably related to something on the forks: brakes, fender, etc.

- Does it only happen when the bike is under load? In other words, does it stop if you pull in the clutch. If so, it could be related to the drive chain, sprockets, etc. I once used a crappy chain lube and it made my front sproket noisy. The sound came up through the triple area making it deceptive at first. The off clutch noise gone thing tipped me off to it.

- Have you pulled away the plastics and tried recreating it driving or on a rear stand? The plastics have a bunch of possible buzz sources. Plus, if you pull 'em away, you have access to tap on more things with a rubber mallot.

- Is it a high buzz or a low pitch buzz? Metal or plastic?
