What's the lifespan of a Spool Bolt ?

Blanca, don't put high grade hard bolts in your swingarm spools my friend. You want soft bolts like the ones that came with the spools. The spool bolts are soft so they are likely to bend during a crash. If you go to a high grade bolt you are likely to break the spool ear off the swingarm during a getoff. We have one race bike with a missing spool ear and my friend GregBob is missing a spool ear as well due to crashing. I have a bent one on my gixxer from a getoff.

Another little tip,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, use the smallest swingarm spool you can find. I use Vortex spools. The smaller the spool the less likely the ear will break during a crash. You can weld a new spool ear onto the swingarm but you must remove the swingarm to do a proper job.

this is why i dont buy into the "swingarm sliders".

i wouldnt worry about it blanca, look at all the other bolts going through stress and cyclic loading far greater than your spools.

I only use the stand when I do service or work on the bike. Then I put the spools on and when done, I again remove them.

For Blanca, there is way to make sure you never again have a problem, just follow this procedure.

1.) Put the spools on the bike and tighten to a torque of 7 ft lb.
2.) Put the rear stand under the spools and carefully lift the bike.
3.) Get onto the bike carefully and sit down, feet on the foot-pegs.
4.) Put two Aspirins under your tongue.
5.) Now, slowly and carefully rock the bike, so the rear shock compresses very slightly.
6.) Once the Aspirins are totally melted and digested, this action strengtens the two bolts from 1,600lbs each to around 3,239.0045lbs.
7.) You can now load almost 6000 lbs, or the weight of your pick-up truck on the Busa and the bolts will hold.
8.) If you use Pitbull stands, get your dog to bark furiously, while the Aspirins are melting, this increases the load of the Pitbull stands 3 fold.

Hope that helps.

There is a good chance that if you lift the bike on the spools something like 1,000 times a day, every day, you could eventually fatigue the bolts to the point of failure.
