Wheels

Cookie,

Is that chart showing a 1k Suzuki wheel or a Busa wheel? The Busa would be even heavier than the 1K.

The BST's are awesome but way outside the realm of most (or maybe it's just me) of us Married folk! If you can afford em buy em. I have been looking at the Carrozeria's for a while and now the Durrani's because both of them are typically available at a substantial savings compared to the Marchesini/PVM/Galespeed/Marvic counterparts.

My question is how hard are they to clean compared to the stockers. I am wiping my stockers down every few days with lemon pledge and a paper towel and I am interested to see what a headache they are to clean.

Good spot, Professor! That chart was formulated on the typical 1k wheel. So, you are correct, the Busa wheel would be heavier and further up the chart. Really not a fair comparison.

One thing though, when mounting these lighter wheels, if you hit a rut or curb, you may pay dearly for it resulting in a bent rim. I know that Dymag had issues with hubs in the beginning, but I believe that was resolved. The Hayabusa is a heavy bike, that is why Suzuki placed these more stout rims on it.

(Professor @ Jun. 25 2007,11:36) You mean $7K   2 BSTs and a Diamond to keep her happy.

Put yourself in my shoes. I need two rears to be able to swap out at the strip. ( I actually have 3 now).

Thanks for the great info Cookie. The wheels were a present to myself last year and I got them from a guy up in NorCal that was running a special. His distributor was clearing out inventory and I got them for $3792.37 complete with rear sprocket incl. tax & shipping. I noticed a significant difference in handling, but then I had only the factory wheels to compare it to. Huge investment but I think it was well worth it.

You know I was going to make a comment about why people spend their money on bling rather than performance but I figure to each his own.
Life is to short to drink cheap beer guys, if motorcycle riding is your passion then pursue like it is. I am 58 this year and wish I had sacrified to have an excellent ride when I was younger and more nimble. You ain't going to get another chance to do this again so make it count.
