Where is the top end power?

HUH? ??? The default mode on my 08 is "A".

My Beast......."ToXSicK" pullz so damn hard from about 7500rpms ON(in ANY GEAR :muscle: )that I cant hardly even concentrate....its like WARP SPEED..... literally :thumbsup: and I've been drag racing bikes and carz for 13years, NOTHING compares to the teeth clinching, azz puckering, eye ballz sucking into your skull POWER THESE GEN2's MAKE(at least the org/blk ones anywayz :laugh: )!!!

Thanks for the info, I was just hoping there was something crazy up top and I will take your word for it. Now I just need some time to get her broke in to really have fun. I am happily surprised at the handling so far, compared to a friends zx14. I just want it all, speed, torque, handling, and a nice seat for the wife. Thanks for the info, this place is great for that. :bowdown:

Oh and about the orange and black, I love that color. Wife wanted me to buy it but I have this thing for staying out of the cops eyesight, even if my bike's color makes it hard to see me for regular traffic. I do have to say black and grey is the fastest color, right? :rofl:

I think I read that black and grey is the 2nd fastest. :rofl:
 
I ran mine up Friday to 150 in 5th gear at 9000 rpms,I think. Close estimation. I had one more gear and a lot of rpms left. I think mine will run at least 250 miles per hour.:laugh: My son has a 1000 and the way I ride, I can't tell the difference in power,BUT, There is a heck of a difference in the comfort level. Handling in curves, to me, is very close. jUST RIDE IT AND SMOKE YOUR 1000 FRIENDS WHEN YOU GET IT BROKE IN. tHEY WON'T RAG YOU MUCH i GUARENTEE.

Except for 08 black & gray, which is clearly faster than the rest! :laugh:

Oh, and after the break-in you'll question the strength of the hump a lot more than the strength of the engine.
 
You should have plenty of power between 4K and 9.5K in every gear. Maybe it's the feel of the bike. You won't have any problems with the liters or ZX 14s out there, especially beyond 150.

When I let the girl rip the first time it nearly ripped my arms off and the dial on the speedo looked like it was going to fall off it went around so quick.So look out when you eventually go hard as this will be the best thing you have ever ridden:bowdown::thumbsup::bowdown::thumbsup::bowdown:
 
Hey everyone, I was just out breaking in my bike and so far have only gotten to around 7500 rpm as I stopped looking at the dash and grabbed some breaks at that point, to stay legal. I should mention that I am at 500 miles so far. I just didn't see any surge in power and I was curious if this thing has a top end hit and where is it? I sure hope there is more too this bike as I went away from liter bikes to get the "real" power and to have a comfortable seat for wifey. Just worried I will regret buying the bus as the friends call it. I am just too particular to run this thing to redline until at least 800 miles but I am getting anxious and hope there is more to this thing. So far it seems to have a little surge around 3500 to around 5000 and that is nice but I need more! Tell me the good word about this bike, please. :please:
I haven't got to ride a 2nd gen...but if its a first gen......I hate to tell you, but its not going to have a real "hit" to speak of like you expect. Busa's just pull hard all the way up...no hits. It probably won't feel as fast as the liters you're used to, even though it is. Honestly when I first got my gen1 I was abit dissapointed as well....it didn't give me the "holy sh*t" hit I expected either. And I took heat for saying that in 04...just like I'll prolly take it now :rofl: It will pull abit harder and rev faster as it breaks in though....but its never going to feel frantic like a literbike. Thats just the nature of a big-bore longer stroke motor like the busa compared to a short-stroke high revving liter. Equal speeds, just different feels to the acceleration...and one has HELLA more torque than the other. A busa doesn't care what gear your in...its always going to pull hard :laugh: And it pulls as hard with my wife on back as it does with just me :beerchug: I do love the torque :thumbsup:
 
Try to open your throttle all the way – might help:laugh:
7.5K and up, she will be out of this planet. Keep it at around 10K and you will visit other galaxies.:laugh:

I just came from a modified GSXR 750 and a Bandit 1250 with Hole Shot mods. The power in the Busa is similar to the Bandit in the torque department only. This bike is deceptive as it pulls like a turbine all the way to the top.
It has to be one the finest all around bikes that I have ever had and the very best bang for the buck that I have found. Comfort for my wife when she goes with me and still able to stay ahead of my 3 boys in the tight stuff with plently to embarrass them when we hit the straights. I have been riding for on the street for just over 45 years.
But I will not go back to a lesser bike.
 
IF you want the punch,

In first gear run it up to 6500 RPM and then punch it hard.

Don't shift until 9500 RPM in the rest of the gears.

I was kind of dissappointed in the Below 4000 RPM torque, as I was coming from a 1250 Bandit S. I actually stopped and started an extra 10-15 times on my way home because I thought that the Bandit pulled harder from a regular take off (I still think below 4000 RPM the Bandit pulled a little harder). But after an oil change and service at 600 miles I did the above in 1st, 2d, 3d gears. And I am hear to say that the Busa is King. Their are bikes out there that are quicker but none are faster. Especially if you are on the Black and Orange.

When you are finished with your break in and try the POWER, I do not think that you will be disappointed. I do think you will be astonished.
