My gen 2 doesn't have one.....Just noticed my gen 3 doesn't have a cotter pin on the rear axle? They seem like a pretty good idea to me, and I'm wondering where they went. They can't have been sacrificed just for weight, or cost, could they?
I almost want to drill my own holes but I've never done that.

Maybe my axle is an aftermarket one but it has a nylon lock nut on it and no hole.My '08 came with one new, the axle has a hole through the end and the axle nut is a castle nut.

Mine's an '09 so it must be a changed out axle....I think Suzuki changed it around 2013 with the ABS brakes

I know I was kind of surprised that it didn't have a castle nut......and I didn't have a socket to fit the nut on there and had to go buy one.Who knows then, mine was a first year Gen2, maybe they decided to leave some things off of the '09 and up??
Maybe just modernization as most bikes don't use a castle nut on the axles anymore?Weight or cost?![]()
Mine came with thisThe nut (no, not me either), I'm going to have to get at some spring cleaning.....there's a lot of dust on this thing....

My 2009 came out of the crate with the setup @Bumblebee posted. Wonder If they dropped it after the first year of the gen2?
