Which jacket do you ride with?

Problem with Vanson jackets is they're made for short people. I wish Vanson (hello, Vanson, is anybody in there??) would make jackets for men over 6' tall...

But for summer wear, there is nothing better in my opinion than a Vanson perf. There's something magically harmonious about a black leather jacket on a sunny morning ride.

Colder rides call for the Kilimanjaro.

Remember your riding leathers should be a nice snugg fit Catfish. They should also be really comfy on the bike, but not so much when walking around. Forward rotated arms tend mess up the wearability. They are tight to preven flapping and to make certain that the armor and leather stays in place and doesn't roll up, twist or otherwise leave your skin exposed.

A6, are you saying the sleeves are too short? Or the whole thing is too short? I know Vanson cuts their sleeves shorter than some of the others to prevent bunching when wearing gloves...

Or do you look like your wearing the kids leather?

I got this mental picture of a guy in a jacket about 3 sizes too small - like a middle aged guy wearing his old high school letterman jacket...

No, they fit alright, it's just that I wish they'd make them a bit longer, but they do have an extended back panel, which is good.

If you look on Vanson's site - at least the last time I checked - they even state that they pattern their jackets for shorter folks. It brings to mind an old Randy Newman song...

Yeah that's the image I had... I know what your saying though, I had a Teknic that had tight short cuffs...

Revlis- Thanks for the info. I actually feel like I'm wearing a knight's armor when walking around with it on. Trying to keep the robotic movement to a minimum. I feel kind of stupid, but my gf keeps telling me I look OK. No strange looks yet.

Full coverage is the way to go. A decent suit takes the same amount of time that a half coverage jacket does.

Nuff said.

Field shear mach 4... mesh with armor... good jacket for the warm weather (red/black).

Daugther has white joe Rocket cleo - mesh with armor... looks nice on her.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. The one piece suits somehow take me way, way back into my early childhood when my parents made me wear those one-piece jammies with the footies in them - you know the ones.

Also, a one-piece is so, well, non-versatile and unforgiving. A separate jacket and pants can be mixed and matched to suit conditions. Separate pieces are also easier to layer. And, they look normal (or more normal) when you arrive.

I wouldn't want to do an early morning ride, or a quick city to city, or a short weekend coffee shop hop, wearing a one-piece. For continuous long distance, the one-piece is the better choice. For everything else, give me separate pieces.

But again, YMMV.

During the hot and warmer months, I wear my 2-pc Leather Spidi. Just the jacket when around town, and both piece's when riding far or on the twisties.

When it is a little cooler or when raining, I wear my 2-pc Joe Rocket Ballistic's.

I have two other set's of leathers that I wear when on my cruiser bike.

Alpinestar GPU 2 piece during the cooler/cold days. Gericke Mesh for the hotter ones. During the really hot ones, try getting a UnderArmour, soak it in cold water, wring out, put mesh jacket over it.... Own personal A/C! Aaaah.... Tested on a 104 degree day here in L.A.

I'm the second guy from the left. My jacket is a Gericke, it is combo leather and some kind of textile stuff. It fits snugly and has all the right stuff in it. (even when I'm not in it)

It gets a bit warm on the hot days but I've decided I rather loose some sweat than loose some skin.

How about giving us a rundown on what you like and don't on 'em.!

I like them all, the Vanson was tight when I first got it, they are more comfortable in the riding position than walking around. The Gericke is extreemly comfortable from day one the Icon is the same.Feildsheer needed some breaking in and runs small. The Feildsheer is the most flexible as far as what season you ride in its truley an all season leather.
