I usually run 87 but about every 5th tank I pour some 94 in it. Everyday commute to work about 40 miles round trip I been gettin about 45 mpg. I don't get on it or anything shift around 4000 rpm's. Now joy ridin is somethiing different, Mr Hyde drinks a gallon about every 32 miles regardless of the octane.

Pop,
I'm glad you posted this, because I have always run 93 or better, but if there is no difference in performance.....87 is a lot cheaper. I am wondering now as well.

87 anything else is a waste of money, if you go to a turbo or nitrous then you'll need something more.

87 ijn your area should be fine, unless you have oxygenated gas then go to 89.

93 when ever I can and if I find a Sunoco that still sells 94 I'll put that in her.

87...its is recommended..and from what I've read is best with a stock motor...even with exhaust and pc3 87 is best unless you get into advancing the ignition...or adding turbo or nitrous...

How about a big bore ? Ive never run less than 93 even when it was stock.
Whats your compression ratio with the big bore

I run VP C-16 almost always, its about 114-116 octane, bike runs good and clean! But you can run 87 as this is what suzuki intended.

Race gas or anything other than 87 octane gas is not only a wate, it hurts performance on a stock or mildly modified busa.. Race gas burns much slower that pump gas, taking it farther nitromethane will hardy burn with a match. Without high compression, and a lot of timing there is no need to run any higher octane.
