Ok, great input....now, knowing what we know about GP bikes, and current motorcycle design, is there a lot of improvement in performance the motorcycle can still undergo?
If you were to take what we know now about motorcycles, and consider the platform old technology, or atleast the general 2 wheeled concept, think about this. What if the motorcycle trend was to concentrate on handling instead of just raw power. Maybe make the bikes longer, possibly wider, more stable, better tire technology, much more advanced / possibly not ieven nvented suspension technology. Could / can we push the limits much more than we have at this point. Ive been told MotoGP bikes are going to be limited to 900 cc's in the next few years...if this is true, wouldnt we than feel the need to focus much more on handling?
To compare an F1 car to a street car is obserd....completely different except that both have 4 wheels. Now, lets take motorcycles...heck a guy can plop down 10K and have something considerably close to an AMA superbike. for a hunderd thousand a guy can get into MotoGP territory (no not the same, but close). Maybe if teams had multi million dollare R&D budgets, maybe motorcycles could completely redesign what performance on a motorcycle could be. Im just trying to think outside the box here a little, so bare with my ideas, but is it that far fetched to believe with a limitless amount of cash, a new bike could be developed that would shatter F1 performance? Or is it just a fact that we have come to a point, where only minor developments are made each year, and we have hit the wall as far as performance?
