Havabusa confesses!!!!!!
I do ride in Athletic shoes, at times.
Also in hiking type boots and paratrooper boots on the longe trips.
Sorry

I'll fess up to running shoes in town and boots on the highways....

Kirk

I know what you mean about the feet coming off. I was witness to an accidnt about 10 years ago.... Two riders on a goldwing. Side swiped a van. The passenger had his foot twisted towards the back and the bones sticking out... He still walks with a slight limp.....

Ok, never again without my boots!

Hi-Tech Black,High top Boots,SWAT team boots.
Very light and strong. Had Harley go down on me with boots sliding with my foot under bike no damage, left turn accident. Had Gsxr 1100 go down right side on foot,no damage, accident cut off by female driver in a BMW. These boots work. $58.00 at Surplus store on Steven Creek Blvd. San Jose. Various models including water proof, steel shank and steel toe.Oh ya them come in WIDE width size for big Hawaiian feet, and in Camo colors if you want to double up as hunting boots.Make sure you get the Oil Resistance one's.Only down side I found was not good traction when wet on bottom in the rain. Ride safe all.

I was wearing "hiking" boots when I was rear-ended at high speed a few years ago. The damned things melted from the friction, but stayed on and saved my ankle, just barely.

I used to ride with them until one day I had stopped my old gsxr750 and tried getting off but the lace had gotten intertwined in the foot peg. I fell because I couldn't put my foot down. I would have continued riding till i got it loose but I had shut off the engine.... girl's dad was home.

After that boots all the way and laces tucked away. :)

Kinda rhymes

would love to see you guys in Florida in the summer...all "leathered up"...with boots up to your necks.
Why all the propaganda? Everyone wears what they want. We all take a risk getting on a bike every day. I have seen people dead bent backwards in full leathers and BIG boots...yet I still ride helmetless, leatherless, and YES with Nike "tennis shoes" on...let me tell you it feels good.

Alpinestars makes a neat pair of black athletic type motorcycle shoes with lots of toe and ankle protection and a velcro gizmo that holds the laces in place. About $100.00 US.

I once saw an add that showed a Harley rider in full leathers and a skull cap. The caption under the harley read $600 in gear $10 in protection. Next to a sport bike rider in a tee shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes holding a full face. the caption under read $10 in gear $600 in protection.

Don,

I've got those Alpine Stars you speak of. Super comfortable for walking around in all day long, nice armor and padding. I wear these with jeans. Rest of the time, I've got my Gaerne Strada's on while wearing my leathers. Can't imagine wearing tennis shoes any longer. Heat and humidty, who cares...you sweat a little while wearing good gear. Same as you would without good gear with exposure to the elements (sun and wind = dehydration, etc). Or, even better...you get to sweat into open abrasions/cuts for a few weeks while covered in nice heavy bandages. Have done both, prefer the first option myself.

yes i wear tennis shoes when im just cruisin the town or whatever. plus the teknic, alpinestars ect. are awesome for ridin but not walking in and you look stupid also.

I can see that I am an extremist here. I use Technics Violators without fail on the Busa and I consider them only mediocre protection. I should be using Daytona Safety boots with the kevlar inner lining for protection against broken ankles. The problem is the $750 price. I think that a pair of these are going to be my BIG Christmas present. Tennis shoes?????? Maybe the question should be-How many of you have had seriously mangled feet and still wear tennis shoes?

Squids do. I have worked a number of bike accidents, and feet are not attached real well. They do come off. I recomend something leather that goes above your ankle. Actual motorcycle boots being the obvious choice.
