Who Rode Today?

yeah, but there's nothing wrong with standing in the exhaust stream of motorcycles is there. After all, you can't see those gases, and they smell nice.
Plenty wrong with breathing exhaust fumes or exposing people around you to second hand smoke, but that’s not the point. This is the Who Rode Today thread, so let’s can the argumentative tone. Did you ride today? I didn’t as I woke up to 8° this morning.

Tell it to ottafish, I don't take orders from strangers on the internet

We'd had a little rain overnight, that's probably why I took the dirt bike out. The others have all been washed :)
I was out Saturday on the little rr, it's hard to make the transition sometimes, you forget which bike your on. I was overtaking a couple of cars and a truck on the hwy and backed down to 3rd, twisted the throttle, and passed the truck at about 180km/h. I sat up a little and took my L hand off the bar to wave and was nearly blown off the bike lol. Damn that thing accelerates fast.

Pulled into the kalbar showgrounds as I often do and there was a cricket match set for the next day, yesterday, but I forgot and missed it. I love a good local match.

I left work early yesterday, as it was 58°F!
I rode one of my favorite loops through the country side, 55 miles on the '18 Gsxr1k, home, right on to the Goldwing, and rode the same 55 miles again.
First real rides of the year, and thankful for a nice day to get out.
And; which bike is better? Both...100%
There is of course no comparison between the two.
My dirtbike barred Gsxr1k will be on the road again soon, and I've been looking at dual-sports for my stepson(which I will ride whenever too, lol), I just havn't found the right one yet(drove 4 hours on saturday for one, but it wasn't what I had hoped it would be).
Too many bikes to keep up with can be a pain, but so long as they are all different, having the variety is always great to choose from.
If I had to pick one, I wouldn't want to.
After being on the Gsxr1k for a little over an hour, and the aches were wanting to start to set in...the Goldwing's comfort was greatly appreciated.
I kept my earplugs in too, as I always wear them when riding sportbikes, but it was the first time wearing them on the Goldwing, as it has so much less wind noise, and made the ride very different, lol

I've posted several pictures of this bridge over the years too, as it's been a drag racing spot since the 60's.
The small field you see was bought just for parking...so the cops can't hassle you if they drive through, as it's private property, lol.
The guys race the opposite direction the bikes are facing, and have spotters with radios for the rare traffic passing through.
Most of what runs here comes by trailer, and pulls the front tires off the ground.
The usually open exhaust echos accross the water and up through the hollers too, lol

A small cove on Leesville lake, dividing Pittslyvannia and Bedford counties
We got about 8 inches of snow last night so the only thing I rode was my shovel and snowblower....

It will be probably mid April before I get any motorcycle riding in.......maybe as I've seen it snow in April several times....

I wouldn't be suprised if we got more snow, but there are definately more cold days ahead before the real warm weather starts again.
We are just fortunate to get warm days randomly throughout the cold months.

I'm going to take the cover off my bike sometime as I'm forgetting what it looks like.....

How’s the new suspension on the GL? Love the log house. Two stories!

Lol, the "log house" is actually a tobacco barn.
This is tobacco country, and up until about 25 years ago, there was still a huge amount of tobacco farming still going on here in Pittslyvannia county(the largest county in Virginia), but many of the old barns are still standing, and there is still tobacco grown, just not nearly as much.
As for the full Traxxion suspension on the Goldwing, it is fantastic, and completely transformed the handling.
There is no comparison, given how awful it was stock, vs now railing corners with ease.
The '18 Gsxr1kR has the higher end Showa suspension on it too, and it handles incredibly well, but belive it or not...the Goldwing is quicker and easier to flick left and right through sharp curves.
I also need to take off or move the highway pegs on the GW.
They are knee savers and very comfortable, but limit the lean angle too much.
I laid the GW completely down on the left one in a sharp curve, and quickly realized the obvious, that there was no lean left, and I was fortunate to brake hard enough to stay out of the ditch, lol
But, overall, yes, the GW is a big fat pig...but it now handles deceptively well, for what it is.
I have never been more suprised or impressed from a suspension upgrade on any bike before.
The old hoon in me is almost ashamed to say just how much that I love my Goldwing now, and I have no plans to ever get rid of it...so I have to keep riding the two Gsxr1k's to keep up my macho image...lmao

There are also alot of these old barns that have been turned into modern homes on the inside, and are now very nice.
As a large piece of farmland and an old barn don't pay nearly as high in property taxes as something that looks expensive on the outside, lol
