Who will be the first to stretch the 08'

Anybody planning on doing an extended swingarm on their new 08'? I'm looking to do so in the next two months (you've probably seen my post on extenders vs swing arms) and I was curious what others might be planning or have already done with the 08'. I'm torn between going chrome/bling-bling type look for the bike, or staying with a black/stealth type look. I love the shiny look more than anything, but am worried about the maintainence/cleaning it will require to keep it up. As much as I like to look "sick" driving around town, I also love long road trips and hopefully hitting the track on occasion. thoughst?

Not me. I still want mine to be capable of cornering.

I've already seen a few '08's stretched. Looks hideous IMHO. One reason the shape of the rear end seems to mold with the roundness of the tire. Putting a straight bar under there, and pushing the rear tire back seems to throw off the flows of the design. Lowering the '08  doesn't look right to me in the pics I've see either.

Now I said the same thing about the Busa from pics until I saw it in person and bought one. I just need to see one stretched and/or lowered to make a more educated opinion about it.

Anyways, I'll never lower mine either, my ZX14 is lowered, helps alot on straight line take off, but kills cornering. I'll leave my busa the way it is.

I ORDERED A VELOCITY RACING 4-10 OVER ARM. I DRAGRACE THOUGH. WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STRETCH IT OUT FULLY TILL THEY COME OUT WITH CATALYST EXTENDED TAIL SECTION. I LIKE THE LOOK OF STRETCHED BIKES.VELOCITY DEFINATELY HAS A GOOD PRICE FOR THEM. PLUS GOT AIRTANK AND NOS BOTTLE HOLDER. I SEE LOTS OF EXTENDERS . I JUST DON'T TRUST THEM.

Has anybody ran into any problems with lowering and stretching theirs? Mine is at Smither's shop now and we're finding if we do a 6" or 7" stretch and lower it more than an inch, we are seriously risking hitting the tail light with a passenger.

Any thoughts?

wait till you inadvertantly hit a pothole or speedbump....

Exactly, that's what I'm trying to avoid. We're going to try a fully adjustable lowering link (so I can go a little lower than the first setting, but a little higher than the second setting) and stiffen up the rear suspension a little and see what that looks like.

Mines at Velocity right now. Can't go over 4 inches back with that damn tail. I'm going with adjustable links as well. I hope 4 inches is long enough with 450 hp this bike will put out. My wife said 4 inches is not going to be long enough.

I don't know what all the virgin talk is about. I have smashed a tail light and rubbed holes in three stock under tail fenders on my 01'. Mine has a hole worn through right now. Every one knows the busa has a low rear and it is even lower for 08. I don't mind untill I hit a puddle of water and my azz getz soaked. So don't act like it is something new!

YOU DON'T HAVE 2000$ WORTH OF ELECTRONICS IN YOUR HUMP EITHER.

When your azz flip head over, you will wish you had gone over 4 inches. Oh well, you wont have to worry about that because it will be down for maintenance most of the time anyway.

Im currently making Bolt on Extensions for 2008 Busa, Our gen 1 ones work, but the new ones will have a different design, and will also allow you to use your stock brake bracket. In my opinion, extended bikes aren't meant for a passenger. Bolt on Extensions are removable in less than an hour for weekend racers that want to ride normally during the week. Ill have pics shortly, parts are at anodize.

I'm hopefully putting my Gen1 8 inch over swingarm on my Gen 2 on Saturday. Have had to put it off for the last couple of weeks due to the weather here in ireland. I know there are going to be problems with the rear caliper as the mounts are different so i might have to fit a different bracket. I have Orient Express adjustable lowering links but kept them at the lowest point on my Gen 1 bike to keep the look. Will post pic's when finished. In the meantime here's a pic of my swingarm on my old 99.

Stage 2. Barry said the 08's put down apx. 15% more power than last years. Also I'm hopeing the little gt25 dual ball bearing spools even quicker now. In a couple of weeks I'll know.

Thanks for the INTELLIGENT comment. Have you ever owned a turbo bike before? I didn't think so.
