Why do we vote Democrate or Republican?

All crap aside, no arguing here because I could give a **** less who you voted for in the past. But, why do we actually do it? Do you believe in what the party your voting for says and does? Are you just voting against the other party?

Why don't more people here vote for 3rd parties? Do you honestly believe anything the Republicans or Democrats have to say or have said for the last 20-30+ years?

I don't vote for either side; I vote for an ideal, and unfortunately, ideals are so divided and convoluted anymore, it's getting harder and harder for those of us that refuse to subscribe to one side or the other to even have a voice...

Voting ticket is the problem. If 3rd party ever got enough votes, they would have to take notice even if 3rd party didn't win. Unfortunately too many have the attitude that voting 3rd party means a wasted vote. As if voting for either of the two main stream political parties is somehow a good use of your vote.

Unfortunately, many states have put in rules to make 3rd party not viable. This is why Ron Paul had to run as a republican the last time around.

I vote Republican because I believe that party has the best representation for what matters to me most:

1. Lower taxes.
2. Pro-gun rights.
3. Pro-Christian stance.
4. Anti-abortion.
5. Pro-Constitution.
6. Tougher imigration laws.
7. Pro-military.
8. Pro traditional family & marriage (Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve).
9. Help people work, take them off welfare rather than expand welfare recipients.
10. Anti-socialism.
11. For smaller governement, less intrusive into our lives.
12. Anti-Obamacare, it's a disaster and not the way to fix healthcare.
13. Pro-Capitalism... it works!
I am sure there are others, but I can't think of them all right now......

Dems on the other hand are, for the vast majority, opposed to almost everything I just wrote down. That's why I vote Republican.

The problem with the Dems/Liberals for me is, by vast majority they represent everything I detest not only in their speech but in their actions !

Republicans, well they generally say the right things, BUT the majority of them CHANGE when they get to Washington ! COWARDS, neither seem to represent the ideas and values of those who sent them !!!

The only problem with this is, the majority of states need not vote because the majority of people live on both coastal shores. So the East Coast and West Coast Rule. Me, I'am for an easy smeezie way !! You win 26 States, YOU WIN. Plain and simple ! That way EVERY STATE counts because you can't BUY OFF EVERYBODY

There is a little on each side that I agree with. I like Postal's list, it pretty much sums it up except 3. 4. and 8.

3. I don't care what religion you are. It shouldn't have anything to do with congress.
4. I support abortion rights. Sometimes mistakes happen and you should be able to abort before bringing a life into this world that isn't wanted or couldn't afford. "some ppl actually need to have there tubes tied or nuts cut!"
8. I'm not gay, but I don't care if you are or not.

Legalization of MJ would be a good thing. Why not legalize it, its always going to be here, why not tax it.

An informed person will vote based on what they feel is best for the country or themselves. 3rd party voting is admirable but is typically a wasted vote.

The issue with our system is that it's first to the post. This is why we will always gravitate towards a 2 party system, and why there won't ever be change.

Get rid of THAT, then your vote will matter. Naturally, neither of the current parties would have any interest in making that change.

Vote however you wish. The only choices you from which you may choose are to the benefit of those who placed them before you. The simple act of voting does not guarantee that the vote is truly "heard" or that the system is uncorrupt. If you choose to believe that those in power allow those not in power to control the destiny of the former, then you may take comfort in voting. If, on the other hand, you believe that every government lie, scandal and coverup that becomes exposed is almost certainly a tiny fraction of what happens behind the closed doors of our "leaders", then you may find voting to be an exercise in futility.
