Why is it?

My son is visiting and has brought his Suzuki GSX750F on a trailer as he has his three daughters, dog and girlfriend with him....

HIs bike needed a few repairs and maintenance and while doing that I thought of all the steps the gen 3 owners have to go through to get to their airbox as this bike is similar in that regard....the pile of fasteners and bolts on the work bench just seemed to be growing and growing....

What a pain in the arse that was....

Did you ride it?
What do you think of the bike in general?

lmao
I found out the other day that unless you remove the entire top case, and all of it's brackets, and the left side muffler, that you have to jack the rear end wayyy up in the air...just to get the rear wheel off
(jacked under the rear shock)
Talk about sketchy, lol

Dude. I hate to break it to you, but if you just remove the rear fender it slides right out the back. Not sure what kind of jacked up Goldwing you have but they made changing tires about as easy as you could want. Remove the lugs and out the back. Like 10 mins.

I gotta know what the heck is different on yours.

I will look at the fender tonight, maybe I missed some bolts in all of the crud, and behind the very tight wiring harness, most of which I have since cleaned.
Both side case mounting brackets are solid, and bolt to the top case.
Assumptions will always bite you, and after several of the wonderful designs on it, air fliter for example, lol, I just assumed this was another gem.
It looked as though the rear tire would hit the bracket above the rear fender.
And, not to make excuses, but my only time to work on this lately has been late at night, and trying to force myself to get things done, so missing something obvious at this point would not be a suprise.
Thanks for the info, hopefully mine hasn't previously been modified by some 'expert'...like whoever last tightened the lug nuts, lol

I think you got faked out by the license plate mount. 2 screws there, 4 perimeter screws and the whole fender comes off.
I put an upsized car tire back there and it slid right in. I'll see if I can find a pic on my phone.

Well, I knew the metal bracket came off with these two bolts, but it still doesn't allow the wheel to come out

Because this big box is in the way, and is a molded part of the inner fender, it has 2 bolts on the back, and wires and hoses strapped to it's top.
I believe that is your stereo Amp. I am going to have to study the other pics. I don't have anything that was big and solid looking like your pics. There is a soft inner fender. Did not interfere with tire removal at all.

I am pretty sure I'd remember anything that made tire removal a problem.

It's solid and heavy whatever it is.
I should probably look in the service manual, lol...I'm just tired of taking more and more parts off of this thing.

It is the amp, it does slide out easily, 2 bolts, but if I didn't have the side case off, I'de have to remove the screws holding the plug into the top of the amp, because if I unplug it under the seat, that plug won't fit through the rear plastic opening.
What a pain, but I can get the wheel on easily now.
The rear tire balanced without any weights too, I even tried a small weight to make sure, it does happen, but I don't see it often.

Sorry, I've been chasing grand daughters around all week.....

The bike is decent, handles good, has adequate power and brakes fine....but is a pain in the ass to work on....

He got a little taste of Hayabusa power when he tried playing with me out on the back roads.....for some strange reason he thought he could keep up with me.....probably because I've was plodding around with his him and his girlfriend on her Honda 500 Scrambler.....
