winterizing bike

I'm about to winterize my '02 busa and just wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything. I know this has been on the board a million times before but the search function is temporarily disabled right now.

First I'm going to change the oil and filter. I bought 4qt's of Mobil-1 Racing 4T oil and a Mobil-1 M1-110 oil filter. Can someone please confirm that I bought the right filter because I can't find it anywhere.

I'm taking the battery off and putting it on a trickle charger.

The bike will be put up on Pitbull stands to keep the tires off the ground.

The last thing is filling the gas tank and adding some kind of fuel additive. Which one do you recommend?

Anything else?

Thanks!

Don't winterize it bro just keep riding.

I use STABIL...1 oz per 2.5 Gallons of gas. With STABIL, you can still keep riding periodically through the winter if you like.
I installed the trickle charger right on the bike, so it's up on stands, plugged in and when things warm up, I just drop the bike, roll it out and rip around for a few.
Keep an eye on your tire pressure, the cold weather really messes with pressure in bike tires. I run mine 5 lbs low for extra grab on cold roads.

Thanks bro, good advice. I'll pick up some STABIL this week.

Can anyone tell me whether or not the Mobil-1 M1-110 oil filter is okay to use, or will it even fit the Hayabusa? Which oil filters do you all use?

I use the Suzuki and WIX/NAPA filters but have heard good things about the Purolator.

After you pot the stabil in the tank run the bike for five minutes to get the stabilized fuel in the fuel system , also depending how long you will lay it up for , a squirt of marval mystery oil in the cylinders wont hurt squirt in each cylinder and crank it over a couple revs without the wires attached , repeat in spring , This is the way i winterize my jetski Adn its been flawless, the bikes i run all year , hell its 60 degrees when i woke up this morning !

jjmetheny & johnstein, thanks for the list and info! I returned the wrong Mobil filter and ended up buying a Suzuki filter (part# 16510-03G00-X07) from the dealer. I'll look into the marval mystery oil. I will ride a little bit over the winter, maybe every few weeks when we have a nice day here and there. Riding in the crappy weather just isn't the same though, I can't wait for summer again!

johnstein, I remember you now. I haven't been on the board in a few months. We were supposed to put a top speed run together last spring down Ocean Parkway. We'll have to do that next summer!

we only put in stabilizer, we try to ride couple miles thruout as much as we can deal with cold !!
even rode xmas eve last year..

How much STABIL should I use? The directions call for 2oz per 5 gallons of gas, but a bike mechanic told me to just dump the whole bottle in before letting the bike sit for awhile. I'm not sure how much I'll actually ride between December and April.
