WIVES & PARTNERS

Well this is not the Mr., but the Mrs. Hayabusero herself. Just wanted to bring this thread back up since I saw another lady asking about some of other female riders.

There are quite a few here, I guess we are just more of the lurker type. My thing for motorcycling came on quite strangely to tell you the truth as I have never dreamed of riding or owning a bike nor does anyone in my whole family.

My husband started out learning on a little Ninja 250. Well, we soon knew that would become my bike and my husband would get a new one. Well, little did we know that the typical blindsighted left turn woman would take out my husband. Well, with a few gouges on his hands for failure to put on his gloves, he walked away from that one. We used the insurance money to buy him a GSXR600 because of its looks, which I had no idea he'd also outgrow. I rode on the back of it more than a million times and sure loved the bike. Well, he started looking at busa's and sure enough he grabbed one of the last 99 gold's. We originally were going to trade in the 600, but I told him I was going to take a safety course and ride that thing for sure. And that I did. I sure love the 600, again for its looks! I don't ride it to its potential and have only had it to about 110 which was plenty for me. I had had no desire at all to ride the busa when he got it. I had actually asked him several times to take me out on a ride as I wanted to see how it rode for a passenger compared to the 600. Well, he never did get around to riding me, but one day, asked me if I would like to drive it home from where we were at the time. I said well, OK. With really no excitement. BUT, when I got home, it was like WOW! I couldn't believe the smoothness and the sweet hum of the busa compared to the rough and noise of the 600. Well, I fell in love with the bike, but not the color or looks really. I haven't touched the bike again since that day. I really love the 600. I get comments on mine all the time. It is the style and color that grabs the eye. I guess that's what I am a sucker for rather than what a bike can actually do seeing as though I don't ride it for potential!

Well, that is the story. Like I said, just wanted to bring this thread back up since I saw someone mention it. Happy riding!

Kay,
I'm sorry about the crack about Canadian
women and 16 teeth. Here in Maine the
favorite pick up line at bars is "nice tooth"
You must be a saint among women to put up
with DP. I hope Mike and I get a chance
to meet you guys at Toronto race week and
to prove I am not a total dork.
all the best

Ms. Squid Vicious here...AKA- "The Boss". It's nice to know someone else feels my pain. I agree that being a passenger on the Hayabusa is not comfortable at all. I feel like my *** is is coated with vaseline(yes, I know what this feels like)because I slide around so much. I tried to get him to buy a custom cruiser with no such luck. Of course, when I found out the cost of one of these custom jobs, I changed my mind. 30K? I don't think so. At least not at this time in our life. I'd rather be able to shop at Neiman Marcus. I liked riding as a passenger on the V-Max he traded in for the Hayabusa but that doesn't help me now. As far as the danger factor is concerned, I worry a lot. But I'd rather him ride than be a compulsive gambler, alcoholic, womanizer, or woman beater.

He's the man and wears the pants in this family. I let him do whatever his little heart desires. He tells me what to do and I listen. And if you believe this is the Mrs., my Busa's for sale.

Now, this is the Mrs. and I do allow him to do whatever his heart desires and he does actually wear the pants in this family as long as they meet my approval. As far as the "Busa" thing, I get a tremendous "rush" every time I see him climb aboard that monster! I get more than that when I climb up there with him! He is very safe and clear minded when riding his "Busa" and I am open minded to whatever his needs may be even though I don't believe it is a "mid-life" thing, but rather a "need for speed"!!

I couldn`t get my wife to post but I`ll say this about her...We dated all through High School and from the day she met me I`ve had bikes...I`ve motocrossed, ran cross country races, drag raced on strip and on highway, road raced a little and generally spent money on bikes like water at times. We`ve been married 21 years and as long as I put our family needs first if I want it to go on a bike thats fine.I tried to count all the bikes the other day that I`ve owned and it is almost uncountable. What I`m trying to say I guess is there appears to be some other great ladies out there just like my wife is and I applaud you all!!! Guys if you don`t have one yet just keep looking they`re there just hard to find...I came home the day before Christmas with another busa and she didn`t say one word...that it was pretty. And another thing don`t forget her when its her turn to recieve...like at Christmas or birthdays....again my 2 cents which ant worth much....

CBXChris - good post. You're wife sounds cool. I'm definitely holding out till I find the right one. Tough to spot at 200 mph though! :)

Well, I've been told [by Dirty Pete] I'm the first woman Busa owner on the list, but it's good to know that soon there will be others.

About two years ago, my husband Coco, decided he was going to get a bike. He took me to a Harley dealership and said the only thing I could say was 'yes, honey'. Well I really had never given any thought to owning or riding a motorcycle and was absolutely terrified about his safety. He had taken the MSF course once and dropped out; he bought a '97 HD FatBoy, re-took the MSF course a week later and has been riding ever since. I rode in the back for a while, but he kept "encouraging" me to take the course (something about he not liking taking passengers). I did, and we rode Harleys together for a few months (and as someone else mentioned before, I will never go back to being a passenger).

During Bike Week '99, Coco had his first "taste" of sport-bike riding and fell in love. Somewhere he saw a picture of a Copper Hayabusa and without ever seen it in person (or telling me!) ordered one. If I was terrified before, now I was frantic; however this feeling was lessened by he becoming certified as a MSF instructor. But here I am, about eight months later with my own Busa (I also just completed my own MSF instructor certification).

I have no need/want for speed, I just love the looks, smoothness and power of the bike.

Looking forward to meeting/riding with you all,
--Titita (Elena)

The women who posted on this old thread and those Members with wives/girl friends who are either riders or just interested in aspects of the motorcycling life should know that there is a brand new forum called "WOMEN ONLY" at LAbusas.

Men are not allowed, on penalty of excommunication, to post on this forum unless specifically invited by women members. So the leering, ogling and sexism factors will be minimized.

Tell your women. They might like it!

BTW it was my wife who had the original idea here on .org and started this thread!

My SO hates my busa. She didn't mind my little pocket-sized 600 bandit though. But here is where it is starting to get strange. Every time she comes over, she complains about how she doesn't like my busa and how dangerous it is...then she wants to go out and sit on it. She looks dubious crouched over on the busa(she's taller than me) but she gets this really odd look on her face. Can't decide if it's pure hatred, fear, or a blossoming love affair....

Sounds like alot of us have it made. My girlfriend just bought her first bike... A Ninja 500. It's really great to have a significant other who understands what it is that makes us tick.
