World's Nicest Prison

7 different units within our fences, all different custody levels including max. I ran construction crews for 30 years, most of my workers were felons or should of been incarcerated, so I am totally used to working with the clientele. Hardest part is my coworkers who are over the top lazy, and most supervisors that have no clue or right to be supervising.

Yuma prison riot, lots they covered up there. But basically blame for that one boils down to the legal system. They are imposing Integrated Housing Programs upon all prisoners, if they do not agree and sign on they lose privileges. Segregation works in the prison system, general population will resist for a long time.

so when u run chow..... u have min security inmates sitting with max inmates? is there more than one mess hall? When u run showers/give out razors... do u guys collect all the razors from the max guys first before they go to chow? do all these inmates use the same showers? Do u guys strip search all inmates before/after visits? How about the max inmates hospital stays... do they mix with the minimum guys in the hospital? is there more than one hospital? LOL... I got a million questions.... I just cant imagine some of these hardcore max guys being near min. security inmates... that must be insane.... Is there a box??? we have some guys that HAVE to be shackled even before they leave the cell... hands and feet shackled, and chained together..... we have segregation/PC... and SHU (box)..... and everything in SHU in on camera(rounds every 30 minutes minimum)….. its tight up there... we also have a BOSS chair (Body Orifice Security scanner)… u guys use these??????

We also have "contraband watches" also known as shyt watches.... where the BOSS chair shows meatal in their bodies... then they are placed in an isolation cell in hospital/ no toilet or water..... and they shyt in a pale... then we have to look for the metal object..... its gross but effective.

each yard has its own chow hall. each yard has different custody level, some GP, some PC. We have walking 5's at our max, crazy, Huh? we have lifers that can program themselves down to level 3-4 yards. Higher custody yards have 2 man cells, you run showers, lower custody yards are dorm style with showers in each run. Walk down a dorm run of 30-40 inmates with no bars holding them back, just you and your keys/mace with back-up minutes away. Usually you have 2 dorms to walk, twelve runs, no body looking after your 6, always short staffed, your next officer to respond is probably asleep on graves 3 buildings over, probably weighs 300 pounds and will have a coronary responding to your emergency. There is no control room officer watching over you, you are that control room officer also. You better know your stuff !

I do my job better than most, always making sure that if it involves me and my post for the night, I will do everything needed to make sure they have what is coming to them, nothing more, they see this and give you respect. when I ran a max level detention on my last yard nearly every inmate upon getting moved/transferred out thanked me for just doing my job. always think ahead because you will run into them again and it has helped me with dealing with inmates in later situations. at the end of the day we have to realize how much we are at their mercy

u guys had successful suicides/murders this last year? This has been a crazy time for us.... the gang problem is surreal..... and its not publicized.... also... uses of force were obviously up.... Ive never had an inmate thank me for anything.... but honestly only a couple inmates were paroled from my unit.... my porters... and I picked them because I knew they were gonna be released eventually.... its funny because my porters always try to shake my hand.... its not personal.... I just don't do that.... i just tell everyone(inmates) on the unit.... porters specifically... Im not touching your hand..... BUUUUUT... the day 33 cell was paroled.... lol... I shook his hand.

Exciting night last night, FETANYL is no joke! Yesterday was visitation day, guess what that means? New drug supply coming in. Had 2 OD's within 2 hours, sometimes multiple hits of Narcan and shots of Epinephrine
just wont bring them back from the dead. Had to escort the ME around to bag them and take them out.
I once asked an inmate who was dead for 25 minutes and brought back with 5 hits of Narcan if he saw the bright white lights, he stated he did indeed.

GET A DRUG SNIFFING DOG IN THE VISIT ROOM

You will never stop the inflow of drugs, (dogs, scanners, pat-downs, strip search, whatever). You don't have any drugs at your facility?
