Worthwhile to spend 2 grand on an exhaust?

I was looking at full exhausts for my busa and i realized that with a full system akra or yoshi exhaust, pc3usb and a dyno tune it would all come out to over 2 grand.Other than the cosmetic and sound effects is it really worthwhile in terms of performance after spending that much money? Ive heard that the hp increase is around 10-15 after its all said and done.

my bike is about 12hp more than stock

pipe/filter=1450
pair plates=40
pc=250
air box mod=0
dyno tune=250

total=1990.00

12hp/1990= $165.00 per hp

So i suppose its mostly for the cosmetic and bragging rights.I mean 15 hp is good but i guess it also helps out with the weight loss.

I got lucky found someone selling a Yosh RS-3 full system w/PCIIIusb and map for it for $475.00 I know lucky bastid. I still wanna get it Dyno tuned though. so another 200 there.

But when youre done you will have paved the way for more mods (headwork, nitrous, cams etc.)that the stock ECU and Mufflers would limit. But from purely a bang for the buck standpoint the exhaust sytem appears to be a poor investment. Cosmetic enhancement, better sound, better fueling, less weight and better ground clearance these are a few of the intangibles that you have to put your own value on. If you are simply looking for more horsepower you might as well turbo it or spray it.

I have...
Akrapovic "Race" Full Exhaust: $920 (Delivered)
PCIIIUSB: $249 (on sale from KWS Motorsports)
Ivans Map (dyno tuned to akra/yosh full systems): Free (cause i'm special) LOL!

Engine runs smooth as a Gazel with the Power of King Freaking Kong: Total: $1,169

so no...you don't hafta spend 2 grand for fantastic results and...

Less expensive route to the better looks, better sound thing. No real peformance gain, minute weight savings.

in a word...Yes!

hogger...
+1.. Keep in mind if we were riding Ducati 999r's the factory Termignoni carbon exhaust would cost $5,000. There is no PowerComander blah blah.. in the Duc world. Remaped ECU's through Fast By Ferraci would cost $1,200 after you gave them your old one.

If it were inexpensive everyone would have one of these things in their driveway..

My bike came with Akrapovic, PC3 and Quasar map..if it wasn't already on there I wouldn't have dumped the cash, to be honest I can't any difference between the above or one fully stock (performance wise). In my type of driving that is.

mostly, people do pipes and filter and PC's...minimal mod...at least I do...then ride for awhile, then go for something serious...thinking about turbo, for next...

Assuming a stock Busa makes 160, and at an MSRP of $11,099, that equates to $69.37 per hp for the bike. So that exhaust is hella expensive.

I spent 1800 on my exhaust and another 300 on my Ems.... I think its always worth the money, as long it is something that you want...
