Oh I'm certain the Busa will do it but doing it and being competitive are two totally different things.

The power to weight ratio can't be calculated out.

The Busa would likely win...seriously.
The power to weight ratio is also very close.
Consider the average Busa vs liter bike(bike vs bike, expert riders on both)
They are pretty even in the quarter mile, then the Busa(or zx14) tend to start walking(aerodynamics).
Alot of the TT has room to approach and pass 200mph too. So a Busa given the engine treatment a Superbike gets, would eat the 1000's.
As for cornering, a liter bike might edge it out, but it would be so close as to likely not matter.
I hurt the feelings of a couple of Amature class local heros on the mountain, as their 1000's couldn't shake the Bus...and they got passed...by a guy who has never been on a road course.
In expert TT hands, lol, night night...the fat girl is gonna steal the show.

Maybe, I'm skeptical though, I love my bike but know it's limitations. The Busa might do ok in the open bits but it's weight would be to it's detriment when it gets twisty. Remember the riders would all be of equal caliber...

You think a Busa would stay with the Gixxer you are riding? Even in corners..?

Absoloutely the Busa will stay right with a 1k in corners, including this one.
Granted I'm nowhere near pro riding level.
There is also an obviously completely different feel to each bike.
So much so that when I owned my gen2, I almost laid over multiple 1000's...taking them off the kickstand, lol.
I was so used to the weight of the Busa, I applied the same effort to the 1k's, nearly slinging them to the ground(dummy).
And yes, you do feel that flicking it side to side through corners as well. But, even with the little extra effort, there is no problem laying the Busa into a corner and railing out of it...right with the 1k...or the roughly 20% more torque of the Busa pulling past.
The 340 more cc's close the power gap(extra weight), the aero's walk on top, and a 1000 can't escape in corners, the difference in lean angle and wheelbase in minimal.
Considering it would be ridden fearlessly to the edge of reality, my own personal experience has me betting the farm on the Busa.
Suzuki needs to do some test laps there.
THAT would be great marketing!

The weight and wheelbase of the Busa detracts from its cornering ability. If it didn’t MotoGP riders would ride them.

No...they wouldn't
As the Busa isn't marketed as a Sport bike, it's sport touring.
You're trying to put an apple in a race full of oranges
Watch a Busa vs 1k's on a track, plenty on Youtube, and they all show that the extra weight and wheelbase is minimal vs a 1k.
Lap times are are close enough to where it's whoever is riding the best that day.

The previous owner of my bike said the same thing...would almost keep with the liter bikes in corners and stomp them on the straights...he moved on to an S1000RR.

I was going to say something along the lines Wuzza said but in regards to the TT but know there would be limitations in engine size keeping it at bay.

This guy raced (races?) a Hayabusa on the track at least in 2011..

Or this guy...

I agree, Busa can keep up and outperform just fine. I pass quite a few 1000 guys on the corners, and with the right revalve and suspension components I have had no problems cornering in the mid triple digits. This is of course after like 5 or 7 revalves and multiple spring changes. Probably spent more on suspension tuning and parts than what the bike is worth. I spend so much time on suspension cuz I love the Busa and nobody has a roadmap on racetrack suspension for it, every increase in 10mph on the corners has made me revalve since with the extra weight and extreme torque she will go wide if you hit the throttle hard before the apex. So the better you get the more often you gonna revalve on a Busa since chances are whatever your tuner gave you from the start was marginal compared to what the bike can do. At this point you gotta know what to ask for when revalving. Understanding the math behind it is crucial. Restackor is a great program for that if you want to get into the math of it all.Standard 1000cc racetrack suspension mathematics will not work as well as expected. I remember asking my suspension guy and he's been around for a long time doing suspension for race teams and I asked if anyone runs the suspension setting I use and he said no, nobody hahaha. Again Busa settings when taken to the max are wayyy past the settings of a 1000. Gotta break the suspension ceiling ya know :)

I guess I'll stick to putting around on the back roads minding my own business....

Hello no dog! Rip up those corners! I'm doing a suspension write up soon with what I have learned. Well show those 1000cc bitches how it's done lol.
I re-sprung my forks with Race Tech spring and used Race Teck gold valves...I think they were G2Rs if I can remember. I also had the spring changed out on the rear shock..

It rides a little rough but sticks well in corners without getting too upset on rough pavement.

When was this? It wasn't until the last few years that racetech realized that all their information on the Busa was off by one step. It was only after they did my bike at their offices in California and I bitched that they realized that all their information was wrong on the Busa. So you probably got a suspension tune one level below what you should have Hydraulically speaking.

It was in '18...so far it has worked well for me...at least I haven't ended up out in a farmer's field or anything

I had my friend who owns a dealership do them for me...well, he and I did them together at his dealership after hours. Even with his labor being free, they weren't cheap to do.

Good stuff
Looking forward to the write-up and details.
The increasing corner speed and valving has my attention.

@Ac41 is the best amateur rider on track , on Busa , I have ever seen footage of . He really uses everything his Busa offers very effectively , even with the longer wheelbase compared to the 1000's he races against .
The Busa is a big girl , so I do believe that for 90% of riders , the 1000's on offer today , will remain the best choice for the race track , factoring in their weight advantage and wheelbase .

Fat girls need love too you know :). Yeah current 1k have a definite advantage. It's all been designed from the start to work on the track well. We on the other hand gotta make our fat girls work out, eat slim fast, do some Yoga and learn a few tricks their momma didn't teach them hahaha.

I ended up at the farmers front yard hahaha. Not fun. After that I got serious about my suspension. Yeah 18 they still had not updated their systems. What rate springs are you running? What's your weight?

I find the Hayabusa to be a better street bike than a liter bike though...it's weight is a good thing on the hiway keeping it from being pushed around so much from the wind.

Honestly I can't remember the spring weight...I weigh around 225 in gear, my buddy who owns the bike shop ordered the springs (and valves).

Then he helped me set the sag and off I went.

What did they do differently with their system? Did they change the valve design?

Why you should have gone Ohlins! Haha.
