Yamahor might be leaving for a while.

Ben, I never met U but all I can say is, unless U have a medical condition, U can do it. One day at a time. I know because I been there.

About 3 yrs ago, I used to weigh 357. One yr later, I was 215. But about 2 yrs later, I lost my best friend and fell into a depression. Within a yr and a half, I gained what I lost and plus (almost 400lbs). So as of this Jan 1st, Im "back in the zone". God's willing, I shall be 215 no later than Dec 31.

Way to go Ben. You can do this. I'm retired Air Force and have a lot of contacts. Let's talk as you get closer to picking a career field before signing on the dotted line.

Congrats! Here's some motivation:

(nitrousjunkie @ Jan. 05 2007,00:01) Goodluck Ben,you chose the wrong branch though.Go to Parris Island,I gaurantee by the time you graduate, you'll be in the best physical shape of your life.
NJ is right Ben, well almost. Join the Corps! I Guaranty you will lose it in boot camp, as long as it's at MCRD San Diego and not Paradise island.

Ben give me a call.

If ya got any questions let me know!! Good luck Ben!!

Just remember this Ben,If you graduate from MCRD Parris Island or San Diego, you do your hitch and decide to do a lateral to the Air Force or any other branch, you DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO THEIR BOOTCAMP,but if you join any of them and decide to go Corp, guess what? 11 weeks of bootcamp as whatever your paygrade was in the other branch or maybe 1 paygrade lower.I dont know your academic background, but its not easy to get in the Corps, but if you want to be part of the finest fighting machine in the world, prepare for your ASVAB and go USMC! OOOH Rah!

OR, You get lots of technical training, you sleep in AC or Heat your tables usually aren't folding there are lots of pretty women running around and you get a job with a hair cut and money for college.

USAF. Good Choice.

If you want to be a Marine, and you WANT to be part of something, truly part of something special, then the Corps is a great choice. I don't think it's the answer though for folks who are have not been planning and looking for just what the Corps has to offer.

I've never heard the Corps was difficult to get into though, Muscles Are Required Intelligence Non Essential... MARINE.

Kidding... But seriously though, I'd Vote AF first for education, treatment, and over all lack of opportunity to get your a55 shot off. You won't be going door to door with an M16 while in the Air Force.

Like I said though, if your looking for someone to look after you, take care of your every need, be your Brother, Mother, and Father the Corps is a great way to go. They are a tight knit bunch.

Good for you Ben. My son was in the Air Force and he received great training in jet engines. Good Luck

ummm... isn't Parris Island the seals?

I'm pretty much decided on the AirForce. Gotta prepare for the ASVAB. Gunny can be a persistant recruiter though.

Ben...former U.S. Marine here....and an "AirWinger"....after basic training at Parris Island?...my training as a Marine Corp "Egress & Evironmental Systems Technician" took place at N.A.S. (Naval Air Station) Millington, TN.....where I was trained in...Ejection Seats, Canopy Jettison, Cabin Pressurization, AC/Heating Systems and both Liquid and Gaseous Oxygen Systems...the pulled 3 months OJT at Camp Pendelton with a Precision Insertion Recon Team in OV-10 twin turbo-props and finally recieved a permanent assignment at MCAS El Toro in Santa Anna, CA with VMA-214..."The BlackSheep" squadron...point being?...Most Marine/Navy air mechs cover and are trained in about what equates to 4X's the M.O.S. (Military Occupational Specialty) areas that yer average airforce mech covers...also?...Marine Pilots get the meanest scraffing run sorties flown where the Air boys idea of "Close Air Support" is drop'in bombs from 10,000 feet from a stealth aircraft....but become a airforce mech?...and you'll specialize in stuff like..."I'm the guy that changes the left wind tip light bulb"...i will admit though...the air boys DO got the best chow halls!

heck yea it can be done, and actually once you change your lifestyle the lbs will fall off.
I went from 378 to 263 in less than a year. I didn't do anything crazy of course exercising is a must, but I started out eating sensible meals (portion sizes) and then figured I'd treat myself on the weekends if I could meet my weekly goal which I set at approx 20miles a week running.
It can be done Ben, best of luck to you.

Or you could just join the foreign legion....... Joking.
