yosh RS3 repacking

I was just wondering, how do you tell when you need to re-pack your Yoshimura RS3 can on a full exhaust ? I read on their site , every 7-10K miles. they do it in shop there in Cali, haven't got a price yet though.

I would think if it's to loud?

Packing material serves several important functions:
*Packing material main function is to dampen the exhaust pulse wave, with no packing in the muffler exhaust DB will increase to extremely loud levels.
*Packing material is an insulation barrier to protect the muffler shell from hot exhaust gasses, without packing material the muffler shell will be damaged.
*Packing material is part of a "tuned system", without packing in the muffler performance will decrease.

Thats a good question. I bought mine used and I've put over 8,000 miles on it. I should probably get around to repacking it.
You shouldn't have to send it in. Drill out the rivets, out with the old, in with the new, new rivets, and good to go:thumbsup:

yup me too,. no idea how many miles on it. but the yosh site says two day turn around if they do it. Or 14 bucks for the packing materials. I have a drill press and such they even have video shows how to do it.
may give it a try.

It's pretty easy. I blew mine apart when I painted it. I also took a little packing out to make it louder.
