you're kiddin me right,state farm?!

Insurance is legalized thievery!!

I am dealing with this crap right now (latterly)

We had a sewer line bust under our house AFTER it backed up raw sewage into the house.

We ended up paying $7,700.00 to the plumbers to replace the entire sewage system under our house, plus we replaced the supply line to our house because it had problems.

We were not expecting 100% coverage, but we received a letter stating they were not covering anything.

So we pay our monthly premiums which you HAVE to pay if you have a mortgage and everyone gets nasty if you are even late a few days. But when it comes time to pay, they do everything they can to get out of it.

i have heard of this happening to many others also, so is it the citys line when it bust or the home owners , and if its the home owners then why cant it be covered...what a bummer insurance is...

They go by blue book value...not what you've spent on it, or what you think it's worth.

Unless you pay more in premiums for custom paint and or mods, they only pay for a stock bike in good condition.

Exactly! All the mods and bling aren't covered on bikes, cars, trucks, unless insured separately.

man that sucks... Geico has a customization survey that you have to fill out. problem is once you have over 25% in custom work they drop you. UNLESS you are in VA or NC state law is you are covered an all items and do not need to fill out the survey.

That is not true.... If you have the reciepts they will reimburse you for modifications to bring the bike back to before the accident or whatever up to so much unless you brought the bike to them with reciepts to show how much it was worth and then they would have adjusted your premiums for added coverage. If you run into any snags, I worked for an agent. Get a hold of me and I'll call them to find out what the policy really is.

That's interesting. I wonder why that is?

Yep you really lose your butt with customizing when it comes time to sell, or you wreck it with full coverage. A massively modded bike is cool to look at, but you have to remember a huge portion of the money invested will be lost one way or the other, so enjoy the he*l out of it

I have my lawyers looking into it at the moment.

My lawyer told me because of all the legitimate claims they (insurance company's in general) have been having to pay out recently with all the fires and other disasters that most insurance company's are denying claims which should not be denied. And are usually getting away with it.

wrong!!!

Call and ask them...they go by "fair market value" which means (and I felt this screwing first hand btw) if your bike blue books for $8k but they can open an auto trader and show you 3+ examples of what they feel is comparable bikes to yours "locally"...they draw their average from those prices not blue book. And in this economy I could see this happening more today than what it should have when state farm screwed me back in 2002.

I fought this one tooth and nail and it didn't matter. It cost me tons of time and $2000 in lost value on a 6 month old bike.

state farm here gives $150 for an aftermarket exhaust regardless of what it costs or its age

if you want more, you need to buy supplemental insurance

State farm just offered me $11800.00 for my bike or $7500.00 plus the bike. now the wreck wasnt my fault so her insurance has to pay for my bike the way it was. I had to wirte up all my mods and the value of them. they covered my cell phone and even the shoes i was wearing. i guess all insurences are diffrent but i think they done me pretty good!!!

situation varies depending on the actual occurance...

my statements are based on a situation where your insurance is paying for your bike....ie: stolen, vandalized, act of god etc

now in a situation where someone else's insurance is paying....you normally make out much better if you can afford to play the waiting game.
