yuck

We saw it at the Long Beach bike show and I have to say...

If I HAD to buy a Victory, that would be the one.....it beats the hell outta the rest of those damn cruisers they sell!

I keep staring at it expecting it to make sense but it just doesn't.

The "hood" on that thing looks big enough to be right at home on a pimped out '74 ElDorado. Does it lift up to put luggage in there? That rolling abortion must have the aerodynamics of a cinder block.

What is that a big fuel tank or the have a 350 stuffed in there? Looks like it hit an old jet ski head on.

I know concepts are generally a bit out of the norm, but when I look at this thing I have to wonder why it came to be. F'n hideous. If the cruiser folks want to break into the sportbike market, why not simply design a functional sportbike without all the customary cruiser bling and drama? Guess it's still all about posing. Remember- "loud pipes save lives". They're still slow and disfunctional. Atleast they're comfortable, but then again so is an FJR, and it will actually turn a corner. Cruisers, got to love 'em.

Dog gonnit', should have never looked at this post. That bike is so ugly I am gonna have to go see an opthomologist because of the eye damage I just incurred

Fummy, these sound like a lot of the same comments made about the Busa in 1998-99.

Dec 9, 2005 Long Beach, CA
Victory Motorcycles, a division of Polaris Industries unveiled a concept motorcycle at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, CA that is to say the least, a departure from what you know of Victory. Calling it the Vision, Victory hopes to capture a market segment, or as Victory designers stated, “a combination of different segments†and give them a motorcycle for the “rider who doesn't know what type of bike they wantâ€, according to the lead designer. Lifestyle as a design influence was paramount for the Vision according to Victory, “I wanted to look at three really popular segments and within those segments you see a lifestyle.†says Tiger, the primary designer for the Vision. With this in mind Victory has also made it even easier for those motorcyclists who are less than sure if it's a cruiser, sport bike or a standard that they want by making the Vision user friendly. How they accomplished this was by way of a CVT or Constant Variable Transmission in automatic flavor. Yes that's right, it's an automatic. Just like your favorite scooter. The premise in this feature is to “lower the learning curve†for the rider.

Visually the bike is odd to behold. Mechanically it may be even harder for some more experienced cyclists to wrap their understanding around with it's 800cc parallel twin, automatic transmission, lack of foot controls, cruiser seating position and storage compartment directly in front of the rider in the cockpit area which is roomy enough to hold two full face helmets. It also utilizes a 250 series rear tire.

The Vision is a new direction for Victory and they're excited about it just as it is rather than looking at it as a design platform from which to glean ideas from for future bikes. Otherwise, “it wouldn't be here†according the team. Victory is actively looking for feedback on this “motorcycle†and chose to unveil for that very reason. They want to know what you think of such a concept. It's difficult to describe such a machine, so seeing is believing as they say. If you're at the show stop by and let them know if you think they have vision.

Alright.. It's got some great lines. I pretty much love everything except the handlebars, and that cargo van that is strapped to the front. (by the way, if you actually used that for *cargo storage* what sorts of handling would you have??)

There is nothing new about the grips and levers... For all the work that they put in to that hulk, there is absolutely no new thought into the grips/levers/resivours etc.

C'mon, that thing is unecessarily overstyled. The enineering of the mechanicals may be well thought out, but slapping on a bunch of body cladding to make it controversial is useless

Kinda like the vent thingies on the side of the 14, only taken to the extreme. Someone old me the other day that those vent thingies are supposed to give the rider & passenger some airflow.

I think Victory has some great engineers, an ambitious outlook, and with KTM on board....maybe some really cool things to come

I did mention I owned 3 Vics, and switched to Suzuki...right

I was going to say I like it if it has a six cylinder engine under there but an 800cc engine? May as well put a rubber band in there.
