saw a posting not long ago where you can remap the stock box. just bought a busa and the guy who mapped the stock box did a bad job. the bike runs rich and jerks bad at low rpm. the bike has a yosh. pipe on it. just ordered the power commander and want to zero out the changes the previous owner made. can you help or know someone who can. i live in the league city area. thanks in advance.

I'm guessing, but your problem is caused by using the factory's stock ECM map, i.e. the
previous owner sold you the bike without remapping. The YOSH pipe, i.e. an much less restricted exhaust system, makes the problem more noticeable. I think Suzuki's stock map makes the engine run too lean, not too rich,
which causes the "stumble". The maps I have examined from the Dynojet for the Busa look to be adding MORE fuel <=3500 rpm from zero to 5% throttle.

Well, Just because Johnny asked.... Nah, Just kidding, I'd be glad to help you(Pappa) out. If you've got a PCII coming, we just need to Zero out your ECM settings. I am going to be at Houston Raceway Park Friday night, I always have my Yosh box with me, if you would like, you could come up there and if you describe your bike I'll look for you and we can re map it. Just make sure your ECM plug is accessible, if it is already mapped, it should be easy to find. We will be racing a stock black 99 and a red and white 97' YZF1000. I have a blue and silver with chrome wheels, second look tank bra, Carbon yosh pipe but my bike may not be back together then, I am going to try finish it by then though.

If the jerking and bucking that you are talking about is at about 2500 rpms is the worst right when you shift into second gear, that is the typical BUSA timing flaw. You can't tune it out with the Yosh Box and it takes a LOT of tuning with a PCII to get it any better, and then its only marginally better. It is due to a timing retard in the first two gears below 4K. On the PCII the timing tables start at 4K. The stumbles are from 2500 rpms to 3300 rpms or so. I kept richening my bike up thinking it was a lean stumble, but even at 10%L,m,h it still bucked. I played with the idle cicuit too, no change. I have gotten kind of used to it now, even the stock bikes do it some but it is much more noticeable with a pipe and airbox mod. If your bike is doing something else, that is another problem that needs to be addressed. If you can't make it to the trakc this friday, Email me at alan.rothman@lyondell.com maybe we can meet somewhere.
