Hi all,
Hope everyone is well.

So finally after dreaming about owning a Hayabusa ever since I knew they existed
I finally have one.(Well it's sort of a deal between myself and the bank really)

It IS pretty much my dream bike.

It's a 2019 in beautiful black.
Standard except for power commander,
quick shifter and Yoshi exhaust.
It's also a special edition no 2 of 20.
Not sure if this means in Australia,world wide,in black? Dunno.

I haven't even ridden it yet except from the driveway to the shed.

I am waiting for my licence to click over from learner approved to big bike licence
which happens on Xmas eve of all dates.


So Xmas day it maybe "stuff your turkey,love."
"I'm outta here"
Doubt that's really going to happen.

The bike sure does sound like it means business.
A great popping of flames if you dump the revs.
Nice.
Note my last big bike many years ago was a 754 honda.
I think I am in for quite a shock when comparing.

Welcome, great looking steed you've got there with all the right mods...

It will be a huge step away from your last bike but it also can be very docile, only your right wrist will decide.

Doubt I will be out of first gear very often.
With a quick shifter? You will be wringing it out in no time..

A word of caution with the quickshifter-they gather speed really, really quickly with them...and if you shift say at 5000 rpm, by the time you reach 5th or 6th you are easily in arrest speeds...
 
Your riding experience will come back to you pretty quick.
I did the same thing - took about 15 yrs off from riding during the 'married w/ kids' years.
If you prefer, you can keep the throttle range between 3k - 5k rpm and it'll perform more predictably. Ride it like that, get used to the weight, throttle response, etc. You'll be fine.

These bikes have secondary fuel injectors that don't kick in until something after 5k rpm. You'll feel it once you get there and that is when you'll better understand how special these bikes are

You gonna do your own maint? Has it been well cared for by the PO? How many miles/kms? Whenever I buy a used bike (is yours used??) I replace all the fluids: oil, hyd fluid, coolant, etc.

As said already, these bikes are pussycats at low revs, easy to control and handle, just a bit heavier than what you have been used to in the past. You will only notice the weight in the slow twisties, these are made for fast sweepers and cruising on any speed you want to (within the law..of course lol)
But get the revs over 6000rpm and things happen quickly...but still very easy to control.
Great engine braking too, you will be fine, it will take about 5 minutes to adjust yourself and your riding mindset to the big bird, but you will love it nonetheless.
Beautiful looking bike, I don't know how you have the self control to not ride it NOW!!

I have a mate at work that does exactly what you said.
New bike to him,new fluids all round.

I live close to town mate so for sure when
I am riding just after Xmas we should go for a ride.
As far as colour schemes go for 2019 model it's the black and silver like mine or the silver and red with red wheels.
I actually have never seen either in our one horse town mate.
What model do you have?
