Ha, you all thought someone important was getting out of politics........nope........just me......

I realize why so many wars were fought over politics and honestly I enjoy our gentle debates in other relaxed sections far more than what we are doing in the politics section....

A section that I should never have been in as I'm unqualified to be in there.....

I'll admit that I got drawn in and caught up in all the rhetoric and I apologize to everyone for that....

So.........don't be upset if I don't respond to anything in the politics section...

I'll go back to where I belong.........wherever that is of course........

and to @338WM my apologies to you directly as I have great respect for both the institution and Corps you represent.....some of the finest people I have worked with were US Marines.....a truly honorable branch of the military....

Totally understand Bee but remember, it's just something to talk about. I believe way too much importance is placed on politics or who is in the White House. What oil and tires we use has more influence on our livelihoods.

The problem is that not everyone can just talk about it. So many threads have gone from discussions to personal attacks and old threads are being pulled out of the archives for no other reason than to stir the pot and start controversy. These are the kind of things that need to stop.

But that's a reason we need to revisit some older threads. We can see that some things don't change literally for years. Fires in Ca as an example. You can find threads discussing it that go back years. This mis-management of the state resources isn't new this fire season.

Or the War in Gaza.

I think it's relevant when something like a group of people as diverse as we have here, can be the embodiment of history lessons we can all make references to by what's posted here.

I agree and I should have said that in my post. I have no problem with old post coming back if it's something useful or has to do with current issues. I responded here right after i deleted a post in a thread that was over 20 years old. The original post was a member asking for thoughts and prays for his father that was taken to the hospital. The post that brought it back was a video about a cruise and a comment along the lines of who says you can't have fun at a funeral. It's that kind of stuff that has no place here.

Now do yourself a big favor, get out entirely, as in don't vote or even listen to them. I stopped voting in the early 1980's and have never looked back, it's just a big shell game. Only about 65% of Canadians vote now anyway.

So your advice is to not participate in a democracy, instead choosing to whine and complain about elected officials? I have to question how productive that is.

If there was democracy, I would engage, but what we have, and You specifically, is a corporate oligarchy that employs two political parties as a buffer between them and the consumers they feed off. But I wouldn't expect you to understand this, you are a drone, a worker bee. Trained from cradle to grave to believe in a system that has all but destroyed your way of life.

This site is about a motorcycle family and friendship. Sharing a common interest and enjoying input from all.

There is a very deep political partisan divide in our country. Some may be utterly disrespectful to the White House, which shows their character, while on the other side of the isle, some may find that behavior offensive.

Politics is normally something we don't mix with friendship, because some are so ingrained in their political divide that the result is loss of friendship.

Haggling and getting personal and throwing insults about politics, only spoils this community and drives it towards becoming another internet trash can.

If we have to discuss politics, why is it so hard to remain respectful (I'm to blame also) refrain from character defamation and maintain things on a friendship basis?

And Bee's nice intentions of staying out of politics did not last long, BTW.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Discuss it if it itches, but keep things in perspective, and as you touched on, don't turn the conversation to perceived personal weaknesses such as questioning a person's ability to understand or discuss logically. Simply question the their thoughts and views directly.
Wuzza helped me tremendously finding a scooter part for no other reason than he wanted to help. Sixer and I for instance are on opposite poles politically but I'm 95% sure without ever meeting him personally that we could be great friends. Same with Bee, though he and I agree on a few more issues. Politics have never affected my personal relationships. Personalities is a different thing. As I get into my later 60's I've lost most of my filter and my intuition tells me you never had much of one, so you and I would probably end up busting up the bar. It's mostly all good

Yeah... Can you see any difference in how the last president did his job and how this one is doing his ?
No difference in the price of food or gas.
No difference at the border.
No difference with foreign policy.
No difference in girl's sports.
No difference in domestic energy policy.
No difference in tariffs with other countries that charge us more than we charge them.
No difference at the FBI and DOJ either.
No difference planned for our food supply system to reduce toxic elements either.
You must be right again... it must not matter who is in the White House.

To have peace leaders must discuss the issues... you call it kissing jazz when negotiations are either attempted or started in order to resolve the current level of warfare. Or, are we going to continue watching where 1000s of people that are dying needlessly?

When energy cost come down the prices will also come down to some extent. the Biden over spending ( intentionally ) inflation spike will take longer to recover from.

Politics are the same as going over Niagara Falls in a barrel.......a person gets in the barrel, the current takes it and no amount of screaming, crying or yelling will change the course of the barrel......it is going over and there isn't thing one anyone can do about it....especially here on this forum...

So if you are pro-Trump, pro-republican (they aren't the same), pro-democrat, pro-Putin, pro-tariff, pro-Zelenskyy, pro-Israel, pro-Palestine or whatever you are......it means absolutely nothing here......

Everyone has an opinion and everyone's opinion is the correct one......

....so in saying that...badgering each other on this forum about something you as an individual can do nothing about makes no sense........

I believe the weakness centers around a challenge of egos. When a guy accuses one of having no filter, while throwing insults at others, we need to look the other way, and compromise, rather than fall into an ego trap.

There seems to be only a few of us.

I believe we have two emotional thinkers here, who don't really identify with themselves and what an emotional thinker is. They sure as hell won't agree with me, as that would be 180 degrees opposite to their emotional thinking. Two of us here, me included are logical thinkers, we rely less on gut feel and more on logical rational thinking. Obviously in life, with less of the emotional scale, we compromise when it comes to rational solutions rather than empathy.

Bee, you seem to be perfectly balanced, in the center for emotional versus logical, you can swing from one to the other.

Then we have a guy who is never serious, short posts and often others don't get what he means, his humor is even dryer than mine.

At the end of the day, it is all good, I think the solution is the ability to put one's ego away (I am to blame also) listen, not get into senseles haggling and just respect each other's viewpoints. Someone here compares that to watching paint dry.

Then it is also possible, that someone may have no idea what I am talking about and thinks it makes no sense.

As you are perfectly aware.....discussions here often devolve very quickly to the point of anger and resentment......

Why? That is the paramount question......

We are on a motorcycle forum and this commonality draws us here but all it takes is the constant back and forth on some of these heated, controversial topics that (in my opinion) usurps the very balance of further discussion.....the same rhetoric goes back and forth, over and over.....

I am also guilty of not knowing when to stop typing as I am new to expressing any opinions...this is something I struggled with and am starting to figure out how to manage it.

My political stance will never falter....I am a neutral right with left sympathies......in my former profession, it really didn't matter who was in the big seat, I still had to go do what I had to do.......I wasn't a robot, I was in a position to question my orders and my leadership was smart enough to listen as I was very experienced and well trained so my opinion was valued...I had to go through a very tough and exclusive selection process to get to where I was.....the failure rate was extreme.

However, I am also new to any social media...this is my only source.......I love this forum and I get wrought in feelings when I see all this squabbling and hateful rhetoric over almost anything and everything these days......it makes me want to leave the forum but I'm just too stubborn to do so..........

So here I am trying to talk a little sense into anyone who cares to listen in hopes we can continue to have valid, intelligent, productive discussions without the constant ride in the barrel........
