05 / 08 conversion finally finished

I think it looks awesome.:beerchug: I could be partial to it since I'm trying to do the swap myself.
I saw where CSC sells a complete kit to put an 07/08 GSXR 1000 tail on a Busa. Which is what I am wanting to do. But the whole kit is 1800 bucks. Too pricey. I have access to a wrecked 08 1000 with a good tail section. Not damaged at all. I can get all I want off of it for next to nothing. I wonder how hard it will be to do myself.

On a side note,I thought the last time I looked into CSC kit it was only for the Gen II, but I could be wrong. Might be an even better reason to go with the wrecked one. I've never really had the chance to compare a new gixxer and a busa side by side, but looking at pics I would think the subframe isn't gonna bolt right on. So fabbing one up could be your biggest challenge.

i did have to change the front seat, well it took a couple months because the painter painted the bike the wrong color..... the main reason i did the swap was because 9 years of the same tail section got a little old to me..... i think the 08 looks a little more aerodynamic... THANKS TO THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE IT

did you use all the hardware from the 05 or did you have to use some of the 08 hardware as well beside the rear seat lock..
BTW..nice job looks real good.:beerchug:

Well, I wasn't sure what to expect but in all honesty..it looks real good. I like it better on the Gen 1 than the Gen 2.

Same here. I like it a lot! It took vision to know that and take this on. Hat's off to you, davidl9953 :beerchug:

Well this answers my question. Since gen2 came out I've been looking for a way to get an old tail on it. Looks like it can be done if the new tail fits old bike!!!

Did not read the entire 3 page thread, but found this amazing, since so many hate the '08 tail.

Buy the '09 dude and get it over with.

That looks great. So all you did was buy all of the rear parts from an 08 and bolt it onto your bike. I have a 06 being delivered today  and I really like the 08 tail was wondering if this could be done. Subframe and plastics are all that are needed or do I need to do some wiring to? If you could PM me with some details or advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

looks good. I was hoping you would have a different paint job so I could see how the dual colors of Gen 2 looks on a Gen 1 fairing.

Hi,looks great.Im in process of putting 08 front forks, wheels, and other items on my 2000 busa.Amazing how many things are different. Now i have seen yours will be putting 08 tail on mine as well.Great look.

Looks great I think...

I will be doing this next month. I have all the parts already in the garage. Stay tuned.

I am not understanding why people are wanting to put all these Gen II parts on a Gen I bike.... If you like the Gen II buy one and mod that up rather than continuing to mod your Gen I bikes. The fit and finish looks nice I can admire the work you did as it looks great but I personally do not like the tail of the Gen II at all.

Wondering what the total cost for this Mod was? And were you able to get all the parts from one vender? Thinking of doing the same thing on a Silver 02 Busa. Thanks for the info.

the gen 1 and gen 2 has the same main frame so anything that bolts up to a gen 1 will bolts up to a gen to and visa versa...(sub frame) bolts to the main frame

Looks good. I would actually like to see an 08 front end and left and right side fairings on my 02.
i hate the gen 2 tail , but love the front end, you can put the gen 2 front end on a gen one as well, but you need the main stay all plastics and air ducts ..now question is can you use the gen 2 gauge cluster on a gen one?
as the gen one gauge cluster wont fit the dash panels of the gen 2, but then again you could change out the ecu and wire harness and step up to the better(8 injectors) fuel injection as well...lol

also everyone keeps saying if you like the g2 why not just buy the g2...well if you own a gen 1 and have no payments anymore why would you want to have payments for 5-6 years again when your gen 1 is still got a **** ton of life left in it

I don't understand wanting that ugly rear end either. He's going to hate it when he tries to extend it and the curve down rear hits like it did on mine.
So I took the sweet looking rear of my genI and installed it. It cost me nothing to do . I can't see spending that king of cash to do this mod. and to make the bike heavyer if your going from a light subframe you also have to get two seats. Shoot why not just have catalyst make you an 08 lookalike that would fit the genI's
