So my bike was made in December 2000 but is a k1 has a 340kph speedo but everything I have read about the k1 tells me it should be a 280 k so did the restriction start In January 2001 has aney one eles got a late December 2000 with this speedo ????

I see we have a first time post...first of all....

Welcome to the site, pictures and an introduction are always welcome.....and......

You have a 2000 Hayabusa, they got restricted for 2001, you most likely got one of the last 340kms/hr speedos...cherish it as many would want that speedo.

So dus that mean even though it’s a k1 becors it was made in 2000 it’s unresticted ? If so it would be a very rear bird lol

By the way, nice bike, it looks to be in good shape....where is Hervybay?
It appears to be in Australia. . That’ll be why it’s in kms not mph lol.
Yes, a rare bird it is, and in very nice condition too.
Congrats for having this drop into your lap. So to speak !
Welcome along too, have a look around and enjoy the site, post more pics and videos if you can

your pic shows definitly a 2001 busa (see others here)
the ´99 & ´00 - 340 km/h - speedo fits perfect to all later busa´s up to 2007.
so your 2001 busa´s speedo will have got a change from ´01 to ´99 or ´00 by former owners (to fool others ?).

note:
if your busa don´t go faster than 300 (on the speedo) even if you go full throttled down "mount everest´s" north side
the ecu (and rotor) is probably the orig. 2001 / unflashable 16bit, restricted at 295 km/h by ´01´s mapping
if you want to crack this restriction you have to put in the ecu / rotor - combi of a ´02-´07
and flash (out) the 6th gear restriction.
or
you put in a special "gear display" from germany - this will unlimit every gen1 busa´s 295 km/h border.

The paint indicates that it's an 01, it may be that they had a few sets of gauges left over at the factory, or perhaps it was swapped on by a previous owner. Look at the part number on the ECU. That'll tell you.
Good advice right there, the part number will tell you for sure.

One never knows, even though it is a 2001 model, maybe they had 2000 parts left and a couple bike snuck by under the radar...it has happened before.
