When you become a cop, anyone that no longer wants to be associated with you is ashamed of themselves. Sounds to me like you want this career for all the right reasons, not to be a bully, or make up for some perceived injustice earlier in your life, and that is admirable. To want a stable career to be able to make a difference in the lives of your family and strangers is something to be proud of. I am confident that someone in the decision making process has noticed these things, and will give you the opportunity you want. In the event that it doesn't happen for you this time around, don't hide under a rock, share it with us and we'll help you prepare for the next attempt.

Sounds like you have done all you can do at this point.  Don't beat yourself up over it if it doesn't work out.  Like you said...It's a tough process.

Just remember: (Quote from "A few good men")
"You don't have to wear a patch on your arm to have honor"

You've accomplished a lot, and have straightened your life out.  Be proud of that, because there are so many others that cannot, or won't, do it for themselves.
+1

I don't know the process in MN, but in comparison, if you've made it to the Chief's selection, you've done alot...

Good luck, and I like Jim's quote from A Few Good Men; it's so true. You sound like a good person with a good heart. You don't need a uniform and "job" to show your worth.

Good luck valium. I'm going tomorrow to test for the Illinois Department of Corrections. In the letter they wrote to pack a lunch as the testing would take up to 10 hours. Sounds like a long stressful day. Wish me luck.

Thanks everyone....very much appreciated...your words really have helped me out. Heading out the door right now feeling confident. busa854, I will say a prayer for ya bro.

p.s. Its starting to rain out now, so I guess I wont be riding in and dressing up in my gear looking like a Power Ranger, my fiance will be thrilled!

Everything happens for a good reason and it's your time. Lots of good advice in here, and you'll do well in your acheivements.

Dang, just now saw this. Good luck to you, Valium. No matter what, you have honor, just like stkr said.

I wanted to be a cop way back when and didn't have the gravel in my belly that it takes. I admire you and hope you'll get what you're looking for. Never forget what you said up there about being a persistent @ss! That's what it takes to get such things.

And who gives a rip about your so-called "loved ones" who are dissing you for going after what you want. You can live life without them, believe it or not. I've been ostracized from my family for years and for far less reason than yours has. Life goes on. You make new friends.

Hang tough, bro. Everyone HERE is your bud, your bro or sis and we all want you to succeed.

Well the Board review came and went today. I wont know anything for up to 2 weeks, so just more waiting. Guess there is nothing more I can do at this point, but maybe try to relax a little, and feel good about making it this far.

I would say it went good today, I wouldnt have changed any of my answers if I had it to do all over again, however I wish I wasnt as nervous as I was....didn't arf on them so that was a bonus.

Thanks you for all the encouragement, and especially for the prayers. Really means a lot to me and the Fiance. Will keep you all updated when I get a final decision.
