While on a ride my buddy on his 04 R1 was going 130 around a granny curve when he hit some loose gravel and slammed in to the guard rail full on. Below is what is LEFT of his bike which im in the process of rebuilding............. OOOPS!

he shattered his elbow , broke his arm in 4 places, shoved his front teeth thru his btm lip, lost a couple of teeth, busted a blood vessel in his eye, bruised his leg, and puffed the crap out of his face............ its a wonder ( only a miricle ) he didnt die from this wreck.

When i met the ambulance at the hospital and followed him in the er room, you almost couldnt tell it was him from all the blood!

The pics dont even begin to describe how totalled this bike is, youd have to see it in person to understand, the front end is GONE and i mean not there anymore, the front wheel BROKE! And the whole right side is wiped out!

VERY LUCKY MAN!!!!! GOD was DEFINTETLY with him on that day!

Glad to hear your buddy is OK. My brother hit came up over a rise in the road at 55 mph or so (on his 03 R1) and had no where to go. He hit a high curb and launched into a street sign, breaking both legs in multiple places and an arm in several places. He would have been fine except for that sign! It kind of puts into perspective how lucky your friend was. I know others could post similar stories where there was a fatality and put both of these incidents in even more perspective. In the end, surviving to ride again someday is the most important thing.

Wow...130 and hit a guardrail, and still here...that's not only good news, it's almost a miracle! I'm glad he's on the mend...sorry to see his bike is messed up, but he can buy another if/when he rides again...

Good wishes his way for a speedy recovery...

Dayum... he obviously was not out riding his gardian angel that day. Glad to hear he is still among the living. I hope he heals up real quick. I'll keep him in my prayers for a speedy one.

Guard rails are extremely dangerous. I have seen two different dead riders who hit guard rails and didn't survive. One on a harley and one on a sport bike. If you have a guard rail to deal with, slow and careful is the key. If you happen to go under the rail and hit one of the support post, survival is not in your favor. Guard rails are one of my biggest fears when riding. I have seen first hand what can happen! It's not a pretty site. You will never catch me dragging a knee when there is a guard rail to deal with. Just not smart!

That is crazy, I can not believe he survived let alone was talking after the accident. Is there even enough good parts to justify repairing his bike? Hope he gets well soon.

What does the guardrail look like now??

Glad he survived and will recover.
